About This Pub

Ah, The White Hart – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away in Hopton near Great Yarmouth. I have to say, what really stands out is how they've nailed the Sunday carvery; it's fresh, packed with flavour, and offers great value for a family meal or a catch-up with mates. The staff are an absolute delight, always polite and on point, which makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. Plus, the interior is nicely done, all bright and inviting, and the beer garden is a winner for sunnier days, with secure fencing so you don't have to worry about little ones or furry companions. On the flip side, while most of the food hits the spot, a few have noted the roast potatoes aren't quite as crispy as they'd like, and things like menu availability can shift around, so it's worth checking ahead. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a bite, and I'd definitely pop in again – it's got that warm, community feel that makes you want to linger a bit longer.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Sunday carvery is absolutely spot on – fresh, flavourful meats with all the trimmings like roast potatoes, mash, and veggies, making it a real treat for a proper roast dinner.
  • The staff are so friendly and polite; they make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, with top-notch service that keeps everything running smoothly.
  • It's got a lovely, modern interior and a secure beer garden that's perfect for families or if you've got your dog in tow – plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
  • The food is well-priced and generous in portion, with a good selection of local ales, craft beers, and gins to wash it all down.
  • Being in a great spot between Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, it's ideal for locals and visitors alike, especially if you're after a cosy spot for all sorts of occasions.
Cons
  • Some folks have mentioned the roast potatoes could do with a bit more of a crisp – it's a minor niggle, but it might not hit the mark for everyone seeking that perfect crunch.
  • Service times can vary, and with the menu changing now and then, you might find some items aren't available, which could be a letdown if you're set on something specific.

Lovely pub on the edge of the village. Interior is very well designed and laid out. To the rear is a pub garden with plenty of picnic style benches and tables. Garden is fenced and secure for kids, and more importantly your furry friends. Food is decently priced and well sized too. We had the lighter bites, which were perfect for us. Service is very good. Staff are polite and helpful. Whilst the pub serves tea and coffee all day, be mindful that the food stops being served at 14:30h in the afternoon. There's a nice large conservatory inside as well which is well appointed. All in all, a very well run pub. However could've had reached a 5-star rating, but downgraded because dogs are not permitted inside. But the only downside from my opinion.

We’ve recently bought a house 2 mins down the road from this place and it was recommended highly by the agent and it’s lives up to expectations. Firstly the restaurant area is really nice and we weren’t expecting it to look that great inside the building. The Christmas decorations that are up now look really good too. Staff were really polite, had great recommendations and really nice. The food was great quality and couldn’t fault anything. Will definitely be recommending to our guests that are staying in our Airbnb locally as it’s definitely worth a visit. We went on the 21st December for lunch and is hands down one of the best places I’ve been to. Great value for money and if I had room I would have loved a pudding but my ribs destroyed me and I have no room left! We will return!

Like many others, we were staying at a local holiday park and decided we didn't want to eat there. We went to the White Hart on a Sunday and had their Sunday carvery. It was pretty good (although me and my son felt the roasties could have been improved!) At the carvery area you are given some slices of meat and then you help yourself to the other bits. Service was pretty good, we hadn't booked in advance but we were served quickly and our server was more than happy to switch my sons choice after he had a last minute change of thought from a kids chicken nuggets to a kids carvery! We enjoyed our meal at the White Hart!

Just brilliant, staying at haven and the restaurant was terrible so we ate off the park. So glad we did. Great staff, great food, good drinks, same price as Haven too. Brilliant 👏 many thanks.
