About This Pub
Ah, the Wherry Hotel – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you step inside. Picture this: you're in Lowestoft, overlooking the beautiful Broad, and the staff greet you with that warm, genuine smile that makes you feel right at home. They've got this fantastic carvery that's spot on for a proper British meal, with loads of choices that leave you spoilt for choice, and it's all served up with a side of friendly chit-chat. The pet-friendly policy is a nice touch too; I love how they make everyone feel included, whether you're there for a quick bite or a full family gathering. Plus, with perks like promotions and a loyalty scheme, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few grumbles about the food not always hitting the mark – things like overcooked hash browns or bacon that's a bit too pink can put a dampener on things. And let's not forget those scorching hot plates that might leave you juggling rather than enjoying your meal, especially with kids in tow. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening; just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a cracking time. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit for the atmosphere alone!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making you feel welcome like you're chatting with old mates.
-
The carvery is a real winner – plenty of delicious options and it's served seven days a week, perfect for a hearty Sunday roast or a midweek treat.
-
It's pet-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry friend, adding to that relaxed, inclusive vibe.
-
Stunning views over the Broad make it a lovely spot to unwind, especially with a drink in hand.
-
They've got family-friendly touches like a children's menu and baby changing facilities, so it's great for a family outing.
-
Plenty of promotions and offers, like two cocktails for £12, which make it feel like good value for a night out.
-
The rooms are clean and spacious if you're staying over, with some overlooking the water for a peaceful stay.
Cons
-
Food quality can be hit or miss – some dishes might come out overcooked or undercooked, like those hash browns that were a bit too crispy.
-
Plates can get piping hot, which might be a hassle, especially if you're with little ones who can't handle them easily.
-
The deal on puddings feels a tad restrictive; you have to decide upfront if you want one, or you might miss out on the offer and end up paying more.
-
There's an extra charge for mooring even if you're dining there, which could add up if you're arriving by boat.

Recent Reviews
The fathers day breakfast buffet was a disappointment. Hash browns were over cooked, plates so hot the kids couldn't carry them and bacon that was barely cooked.
Obviously these are personal preferences however staff were friendly and attentive. Can't knock the personal service just the actual food was rather rubbish on his occasion.
I only leave reviews when I visit somewhere that deserves it and these guys certainly do! My family and I have just had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Wherry Hotel whilst on holiday. We were looking for a pet friendly restaurant and to our fortune came across this gem!
From the start we received an extremely friendly welcome, the service was impeccable and food delicious.. as well as being extremely well priced. In particular Caleb and Kerryn couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely be visiting again when back in the area and would highly recommend
The Wherry Hotel is situated close by the Broads.
It is a nice hotel, with a Carvery served 7 days a week which is really delicious.
Plenty of choice of desserts and a good choice bar menu too.
The rooms are clean and spacious, with some over looking the broads.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
This is my chill out hotel where I feel I can pop in alone for a coke and a Mr whippy ice cream which they are now selling.
There is a beautiful park close by with a children's play area and cafe, restaurants, shops, near by.
Also the Princess boat does trips up the broads daily, at 11am and 2pm for a reasonable cost.
Carvery lovely all hot and cooked fab. Have to decide when ordering if your having a pudding else they charge more and you can't have the £5 pudding offer which isn't great as till youve eaten you don't know if you've room for pudding. 😕 Staff very helpful.
Mooring £10 overnight even when eating which is bit rubbish.
Very dog friendly.
Was a bit noisy with disco near where we sat and wish I hadn't booked as would've preferred the conservatory seating.
We had a great lunch at the Wherry.
I had a carvery which was very good quality and excellent value.
My wife had the three bean chilli which she said was the best she has ever had.
The restaurant is clean and very well run with attentive staff.
A special mention to Pete who is excellent very polite and professional.
We would recommend this restaurant.
