About This Pub
Ah, The Commodore – it's one of those pubs that just sticks in your mind after a visit, isn't it? Nestled right by the Broads in Oulton Broad, it's got this magical spot where you can gaze out at the water, watch the boats bob about, and soak up that fresh Suffolk air. From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the staff are absolute gems; they're quick with a smile and make sure you're looked after, whether you're there for a sunny afternoon session or catching some live music on the weekends. The food's another winner – think tasty lunches and lighter options in the garden that hit the spot without breaking the bank. It's got that lively buzz, especially when the music's playing, which makes it a brilliant place to gather with mates for a laugh. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; on busier days, the crowd can get a bit rowdy or feel like it's not your usual quiet local, which might not suit if you're after a more chilled-out vibe. And, being so tied to the outdoors, a spot of bad weather can take the edge off things. Still, overall, it's well worth a stop if you're in the area – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself; you might just find your new favourite spot for a pint with a view.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The views across the Broads are simply stunning – it's one of those spots where you can sit back with a pint and feel like you're on holiday, even on a rainy day.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive; they really make you feel at home, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for the evening.
-
The food is a real highlight, with a great variety of options from hearty lunches to lighter street-food style bites in the garden – perfect for a relaxed meal with mates.
-
Live music every weekend keeps things lively and fun; it's always buzzing with good vibes and chatter, making it a top choice for a night out.
-
It's an ideal spot for anyone near the water, like if you're out on a boat trip – the location adds that extra charm that makes it stand out.
Cons
-
The crowd can sometimes feel a bit too lively or not quite everyone's cup of tea, like it might attract a more flashy bunch on sunny days, which could put off those after a quieter pint.
-
It's quite weather-dependent, as the best bits are outdoors by the water, so if the rain sets in, you might not get the full experience.
-
Opening hours can vary a touch, and it might not always be open late, so it's worth checking ahead if you're planning a visit after dinner.

Didn't eat so can't rate the food.
The location is probably the best you'll find with amazing views.
Bar staff friendly. Found the clientele a little only way is Essex but I suppose the sun brings them out. Well worth a visit though.
Great pub. Lovely views of the water. Great food. The atmosphere was busy, lots of chatter and people enjoying themselves.
Lovely hidden gem, tucked away at the end of Oulton Broads. Perfect place to moor up with the family when out on a day trip on the water.
Good variety of food on offer, as well as offering a trendy, street food style garden menu for when you fancy something a bit lighter.
Wide choice of drinks stocked behind the bar, with a lovely little garden bar to help avoid some of the queues in busier periods.
Live music every Saturday which always goes down a treat and really gets the venue pumping.
All in all, a lovely place to spend a day, afternoon or night, with a diverse team of staff that go out of their way to make your experience superb.
I will be visiting again, and again and again!
Lovely lunch here looking over Oulton Broad. Shame about the weather but the food more than made up for it. Lovely friendly attentive staff. Special thanks to Andy who made my trio of puds.
We were staying in Suffolk for a few days and this was our favourite pub. The staff are friendly and the view of the river is amazing. Lots of lovely swans and boats bobbing around in the river. It was only open in the day time when we visited but it has a lovely sunny garden going down to the river. We visited everyday on our holiday and wish it was our local pub.
