About This Pub
Ah, The Wheatsheaf Inn – it's one of those places that really stands out when you're chatting about great spots for a pint and a bite. With an impressive overall rating, it's clear folks are loving the food; think succulent steaks on their special nights or homemade burgers that feel like a proper treat. The staff are an absolute delight too, always up for a friendly chat and even apologising if there's a slight delay – it's those little touches that make it feel welcoming. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; some dishes might leave you thinking twice about the price, especially if the portions are on the smaller side, and I've heard a few grumbles about the service not always hitting the mark. Oh, and the toilets are a bit of a letdown – they're not up to scratch at all, which is a shame in an otherwise cosy spot. Still, if you're in the Hubbert's Bridge area, I'd say it's well worth a visit for that genuine pub charm, just go in with your eyes open and you'll have a top time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, with standout steaks and homemade dishes that leave you wanting more.
-
The staff are really friendly and welcoming, often going the extra mile to make sure everything's just right.
-
It's got a cosy, traditional pub atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing evening or a meal with mates.
-
They serve a great selection of beers, like Batemans, which adds to the authentic pub experience.
Cons
-
Some meals can feel a bit pricey for what you get, like a small steak that doesn't quite justify the cost.
-
Service can be hit or miss at times, with the odd occasion where it's not as cheerful or efficient as you'd hope.
-
The toilets are in a shocking state – dirty and poorly maintained, which really puts a dampener on things.

Food expensive. £32 odd for a teeny 3" steak fillet. Don't mind but very mediocre. Poor service. No service with a smile. We booked a table but other punters took it to just have a drink. Most
disappointing is the state of the toilets. Absolutely appalling. Stink to high heaven. Broken floor and toilet seat hanging off. If you want to charge 5 star prices then have decent toilets . Staff miserable. Wouldn't recommend and definitely would not go back
We visited on steak night and the sirloins we had were amazing. The chips and onion rings were beautiful can’t fault the meal we really enjoyed it. The service was really good came to us to apologise about the delay as a staff member down which was really nice. Highly recommend best steaks we have had in a while very full after.
A great find. Friendly service with great food. A great pint of Batemans also.
We will visit again when we are in the area.
An absolutely delightful pub.
Food was really good and the people in there were lovely.
Unfortunately I didn't catch her name but the Scottish lady that served us was really lovely too, will definitely come here again
Just been for a lovely meal here as we are away in the area for a weekend. Was recommended by a local and it couldn’t have been any nicer. Lovely staff and lovely cozy pub lounge. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, I had the slow cooked beef in red wine sauce and my partner had a burger. All home made and fresh and piping hot. Could not recommend enough. Will definitely return when we can. Thank you so much!
