About This Pub

Ah, The Wheatsheaf – what a gem it is in Didcot! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with that proper pub warmth, thanks to the likes of Kath and Bobby, who really know how to make you feel welcome, like you're part of the furniture. The garden's a standout feature; it's beautifully done with heated booths that make it ideal for any weather, though do watch out for those pesky mozzies if you're out there on a balmy evening. They've got a fantastic lineup of events too – live bands, disco, and karaoke that get everyone up and dancing, creating an atmosphere that's just buzzing with energy. Prices are spot on, especially when you compare it to other places nearby, and the cleanliness is top drawer, which always adds to the enjoyment. That said, it can get a bit lively and crowded during the big events, so if you're in the mood for a peaceful pint, it might not be the best spot. And honestly, their website's a tad unreliable – I couldn't get it to load properly, so it's worth giving them a ring or dropping by for the full scoop. Overall, it's a solid choice for a fun evening, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after good company and a laugh.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, with Kath and Bobby making everyone feel right at home – it's like popping into a mate's house for a pint.
  • The garden is an absolute treat, especially with those heated booths, perfect for enjoying a summer evening or a cosy winter night.
  • There's a brilliant atmosphere with live bands, disco, and karaoke nights that keep things lively and fun – you'll find yourself coming back for more.
  • The pub keeps things affordable, which is a real bonus compared to other spots around Didcot, making it easy on the wallet.
  • Everything's spotlessly clean, from the bar to the toilets, which always makes for a more enjoyable visit.
Cons
  • The garden can attract a few mozzies on warmer nights, so you might want to bring some insect repellent if you're planning to linger outside.
  • With all the events and music, it can get quite busy and noisy at times, which might not suit if you're after a quiet chat over a drink.
  • The website seems a bit tricky to access, as I had a spot of bother loading it, so you might need to pop in or call for the latest info instead.

The new garden is a hidden gem with heated booths. Kath is a fantastic landlady, who welcomes everyone! And nice to have a pub with such clean toilets.

Best pub in Didcot. Genuinely like a second home. Bobby and Kath are so friendly and welcoming. Beautiful garden and fantastic atmosphere. From live bands to disco and Karaoke would 100% recommend. Bar staff are friendly and beautiful….including the local DJ who doesn’t work the Friday night ☺️

Fantastic pub, mam & dad (that’s just what we call them) have really made the place! We have some fantastic nights here! Great music every day and some brilliant band nights! The new garden is perfect for the summer nights, just watch out for the mozzies!! (Not the pubs fault)

I came here for work... Katherine is the new landlady, a lovely lady very welcoming.... Accommodated my visit on very short notice as I was passing on my way home... For which I'm very grateful 😊 The pub looks great from top to bottom... Photos show that she and the staff have this place looking very fresh, very clean and inviting The wheatsheaf Offers Pool, Darts, live sports and large beer garden, photo shows daily events that are held here... Large Carpark is shared and belongs to the pub... It is free to use (unrestricted) and has no cameras with 8 bays reserved for Sainsbury's with them having a sign saying 30mins. Great local pub but currently not serving food at this time... (This may change in the future). 😎

Since Bobby & Katherine took over last August, the pub has gone from strength to strength! I'm a frequent customer & am always greeted in a friendly way by whoever is behind the bar. The prices are very affordable compared to other pubs in the area, I would highly recommend.
