About This Pub

Ah, Station Garden – it's one of those pubs in Didcot that feels like a reliable go-to for a laid-back meal with the family or a catch-up with friends. From what I've gathered, the food really hits the mark; think juicy steaks and moreish pizzas that leave you satisfied, and they've got some fun deals like 30% off mains to sweeten the deal. The staff are generally chuffed to help, dishing out friendly service and making it easy for families with kid-friendly portions and allergy info. Plus, that pub garden is a gem for soaking up the outdoors on a nice day. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect – on busier nights, things can get a bit chaotic with slower service or even running out of popular dishes, and I've heard a few tales of messiness that might put a dampener on things. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and a cheerful atmosphere, just maybe plan for off-peak times to avoid any hiccups. I'd say give it a try; it's got that community feel that makes pub visits worthwhile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is spot on, with delicious steaks and pizzas that keep everyone coming back for more.
  • It's super family-friendly, offering great options for kids like build-your-own meals and clear allergy choices.
  • Friendly staff make you feel right at home, with quick service that's a real treat on quieter days.
  • Lovely pub garden for enjoying a bite outdoors in the sunshine – perfect for gathering with mates.
  • They've got some cracking offers, like 30% off mains, and a welcoming atmosphere that's ideal for a relaxed catch-up.
Cons
  • Service can be hit or miss on busy evenings, sometimes leading to delays or unavailable dishes.
  • There have been a few gripes about messiness, like food left on the floor in dining areas, which isn't ideal.
  • Portion availability might be an issue occasionally, as one person mentioned running out of options mid-order.
  • It doesn't always shine on packed days, with some saying the experience drops off compared to quieter visits.

Good standard pub meals for adults and kids. Under 5 ‘build a meal is a nice touch. Staff friendly and helpful. Some food etc on floor in family dining areas. Helpfully served by Scarlett to order.

Had a really nice meal in here today with excellent customer service from Neil who was very friendly and attentive. It wasn't overly busy on today's visit which was good and made the food service quick. I have been on really busy days before and the service and food hasn't been so fantastic, so I guess the time of day can make a difference to the experience. But today's visit and overall its a nice place to eat with a pleasant atmosphere.

Ordered 2 x fish , chips and peas then a while later Darcey informed there was only enough for one so I changed one for cheese, leek and potato pie, chips, gravy and peas and a pineapple juice. Darcey was the one shining light of the evening. It was 10 years ago and it will be another decade before we return

Visited for Sunday lunch along with other family members, even though we did not choose this option. Definitely service with a smile when walking in. Plenty of tables available even though we did book - always better to be safe than sorry! Tables were very clean and menu choice was good. Bar area had a nice atmosphere with friendly staff members always on hand take orders. Didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive, prepared and cooked well! Ordered the ultimate chicken burger myself which was very tasty! Love the sauce that was put in the burger. Chips were also very good. They do cater quite well for vegetarians with a few nice options available. Would definitely return to this pub when in the area again. Also had a good size car park, but didn’t drive here so I did not need to use this facility. A great place to treat family or friends to lunch like I did.
