About This Pub
Ah, The Mulberry – it's one of those pubs that really captures the essence of a good night out in Didcot, with its mix of live music, quizzes, and that wood-fired pizza oven churning out some cracking options. I've heard from a few who've raved about the real ales and the fun atmosphere, especially if you're up for a game or two with friends; it's got that welcoming, modern feel that makes you want to linger. On the flip side, though, it's not without its quirks – service can be hit or miss, with stories of staff not being as attentive as you'd hope, and there are times when things like unclean tables or overly noisy crowds take the shine off. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together, but I'd say go in with realistic expectations and maybe opt for a busier night to catch the best of it. If you're after a balanced spot for drinks and a bite, it's worth a try, just keep an eye on the details.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Mulberry has a fantastic selection of real ales, premium lagers, and cocktails that really hit the spot for a relaxing evening out.
-
They've got a lively events calendar with things like open mic nights, bike meets, and quizzes, which make it a buzzing spot to catch up with mates.
-
The food is a highlight, especially the wood-fired pizzas and pub classics like homemade chilli con carne – perfect for a hearty meal in a welcoming setting.
-
It's got a comfortable, modern vibe with board games and entertainment options, making it ideal for groups looking for a bit of fun.
-
Conveniently located with parking, and they source ingredients locally where possible, which adds a nice touch of authenticity.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit inconsistent; sometimes staff seem distracted or take a while to notice you, which puts a damper on the experience.
-
Cleanliness is an issue in places, like unclean tables and cloudy glasses, which might make you think twice about your drink.
-
It can get quite loud at times, losing that cosy pub feel and making it hard to chat over a pint.
-
Food quality varies – you might have a great pizza one visit, but another could involve mix-ups or less than stellar dishes.
-
The atmosphere isn't always spot on; a few folks have mentioned it feeling a tad flat on quieter nights.

Very loud pub, no atmosphere, tables are not clean, glasses look unclean - most likely poor quality dishwasher liquid responsible for bad cloudiness.
Bathroom was clean and nicely decorated 🤩
Arrived for 7.30pm dinner on a Friday - it wasn't v busy. Staff do not welcome you on arrival but instead congregate at the far end of the bar staring artlessly into space. Having been seated, we ordered after too long a wait for the staff to realise we were still there. The calamari were so bad we spat out the first bite; having waited 35 minutes for mains, both the burger meal and the fish and chips were quite small portions and we left hungry. The waitress thought she was being kind and helpful not charging us for the poisoned calamari; good customer service would have been to give the drinks free especially given the wait when the place wasn't even busy. We left disgusted and will not be returning.
Pretty much a classic English pub, Classic pub food with some options for burgers and pizzas, starters. Pleased to see home made chili con carne, and mushy peas for fish and chips both made in house. Chilli served with sour cream and garlic bread. Very nice experience.
One of my favourite places to drink, always good atmosphere and plenty of board games and entertainment. Nice decor and a good tap selection too!
Have had a mix of quality for food at this place but generally all okay. My favourite is the small plates deal. Great for sharing!
We visited here 2 weeks ago and was really impressed then Wednesday we turned up and took a seat. We ordered and awaited with great anticipation.
The food arrived the veg for my meal were on my husband's plate and my husbands veg were on my plate. So lack of attention to detail comes to mind. Our attention came to the cutlery face down into a rusty tin.
Then as we tucked in the veg it was raw this burst the bubble of excitement.
The staff are lovely. No management were available to address the issues. The waitress said the cutlery tins are put in the dishwasher.
My advice is to go and have drinks only.
