About This Pub
Ah, The Walmer Castle – it's one of those neighbourhood gems in Notting Hill that's been around since 1845, and you can really feel that warm, historic charm as soon as you step inside. I've got to say, the food is a real highlight; we're talking simple yet brilliant British-inspired dishes that leave you satisfied, with plenty of options for those with dietary needs like gluten-free. Pair that with a cracking selection of beers, wines, and cocktails, and it's easy to see why folks rave about it for a relaxed evening or even a special gathering. The atmosphere is spot on too – think cosy, refurbished spaces that make you want to linger, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or enjoying some live music. But, and I hate to mention it, there have been times when the service hasn't quite lived up to the hype; a few stories of bookings going awry and staff being a bit distracted can leave you feeling a tad let down. Still, overall, it's a place that does a lot right, and with a bit of forward planning, you're in for a treat. If you're heading to Notting Hill, it's definitely worth checking out for that authentic pub vibe, just keep an eye on the busier times to avoid any hitches.

-
The staff can be incredibly friendly and attentive, especially for occasions like birthdays, adding that personal touch that makes you feel right at home.
Cons
-
Service can sometimes fall short, like when a booking isn't honoured and the team seems more caught up in their own conversations than looking after guests.
-
It gets pretty busy, particularly in the evenings, so you might end up disappointed if you don't plan ahead and secure a table.

Really lovely if small pub, with great beers & an impressive wine & cocktail menu.
But...
I booked weeks in advance to only find no table for me & an uncaring staff more focused on chatting to each other than the delivery of customer service, so I left hungry, disappointed & fed up.
Never again...
I'm certain this place is more than good for most, just not for me, this time...
Fantastic place for dinner. Several gluten free dishes, which are clearly marked. Ordered the halibut and chicken mains and both were excellent. The desserts were also on point (a crumble and a chocolate mousse).
Fantastic British pub with generous portions of delicious Fish and Chips! The staff were friendly. a welcoming atmosphere. A great spot for a classic pub meal!”
What can I say? It was my birthday and all the staff were kind and caring throughout the dinner. Warm atmosphere. Every detail was very well taken care of. Great dishes and wine.
Thank you so much.
Great food, the sea bass was incredible! The staff was also really friendly, special shout-out to Louise who was very friendly, and helpful. Would definitely come back again. If you're looking to dine you should consider making a booking as it does get busy after 7pm.
