About This Pub
Oh, The Princess Royal in Notting Hill is one of those pubs that just draws you in with its warm, inviting feel – it's got this lovely mix of cosy vibes and a fantastic beer garden that's spot on for a sunny afternoon pint. The staff are generally brilliant, making everyone feel welcome and even going the extra mile for your four-legged friends, which is always a plus. And the food? Well, it's a proper treat; people are raving about the meals, from hearty English breakfasts to other delights that leave you wanting more. It's in a cracking spot too, just a stone's throw from Portobello Road, so you can easily combine a visit with some shopping or exploring. On the downside, though, service can be a bit of a letdown – you might find yourself waiting longer than you'd like at the bar or feeling a bit neglected in the restaurant, even when it's quiet. Still, overall, it's a solid choice if you're after a relaxed spot for a drink or a bite, as long as you're not in a massive hurry. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for the good bits, but keep those expectations in check for the service.

-
Great location near Portobello Road and antique shops, so it's easy to pop in after a wander around the area.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit-and-miss, with long waits at the bar – you're looking at a good 10 minutes if there's a queue.
-
In the restaurant, things might feel slow, like waiting ages for plates to be cleared or feeling a tad overlooked.
-
Even when it's not busy, the service doesn't always hit the mark, which can put a damper on an otherwise nice visit.

Nice place for the restaurant. Service is really poor though at the pub. One only person behind the bar preparing cocktails etc., so if you have more than 2 customers ahead of you it is a good 10 minutes minimum wait 🤔 Not sure how the economics work there….
Had walked past a few times, so had clocked it as a pub to go back to… and our only disappointment was not finding it sooner!!
Lovely ambience, fantastic staff, and the best meal I’ve had out all year! We had our black lab with us, who all the staff made a fuss of, and we had a really really lovely meal. We will be back…
I haven’t stayed at the hotel, but my flatmate and I used to visit the pub every week. It has a lovely beer garden, perfect for catching up over a drink, especially on sunny days. The atmosphere is always relaxed and welcoming, and the prices are pretty standard for the area. While we never tried the food, the overall vibe makes it a great spot to unwind. If you're looking for a nice drink in a charming garden setting, this pub is definitely worth a visit.
The rooms are absolutely beautiful. The shampoos smell beautiful. We have stayed here twice now. It has a slight countryside feel but in an urban location. Walking distance to the antique shops and famous portobello road. The breakfast is the best English breakfast.
Service was slow even though lunch wasn't busy. Wasn't taken care of by waiter. Overlooked. Waited 35mins to get starter plates taken away, and more added time for the mains to come. Will definitely come back, as food was incredible. And I mean, everything was fantastic. But would love the service to be better. A 2 hour lunch turned into a 3.5 hour lunch.
