About This Pub

Ah, The Cock and Bottle, tucked away in the backstreets of Notting Hill, is just the sort of place that makes you glad you wandered off the beaten path. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this real homely charm that draws you in, with folks raving about the top-notch Sunday roasts – imagine succulent meat, fresh veg, and those massive Yorkshire puddings that leave you stuffed but smiling. The drinks selection is spot on too, with a great range of cask ales, wines, and spirits to pair with your meal or just enjoy on their outdoor seating when the weather's playing nice. It's family and dog-friendly, which is brilliant for those of us who like to bring the whole gang along, and they've got live sports on the screens, making it a fun spot for watching the big games. On the flip side, it can sometimes feel a bit quiet, like it might not have that electric energy every night, so if you're after a packed house, you might want to check the timings. And while the menu's full of nostalgic British favourites, it doesn't venture much beyond that, which could be a miss if you're craving something a bit more varied. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a proper feed, and with such positive vibes from recent visitors – averaging a stellar 4.8 out of 5 lately – I'd say it's worth popping in for a try. Tobie and the team seem to be doing a grand job keeping the place welcoming, so whether it's for a quiz night or just a casual Sunday session, you'll likely leave feeling chuffed.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is spot on – think delicious British classics like Sunday roasts and fish and chips, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients that really hit the spot.
  • It's got that lovely community vibe with a charming atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a pint of cask ale or watching live sports in a relaxed setting.
  • Being family and dog-friendly means it's great for gatherings, and they've got outdoor seating for those sunny days in Notting Hill.
Cons
  • It might not always feel buzzing, as one visit could seem a bit quiet, which might put you off if you're after a lively crowd.
  • The menu sticks to traditional British dishes, so if you're in the mood for something more adventurous or international, you might find it a tad limited.

Had a lovely Sunday roast in the upstairs dining room. Fantastic freshly cooked meal with succulent meat, and tasty vegetables. The staff were really accommodating, and the service was speedy. We were so full up after our roasts, that we didn't have any desserts, but the dessert menu looked amazing. We will be back for a pub lunch at some point.

Came here yesterday for an easy pint. Great place and although I didn’t get food, it looks like they have an excellent menu. Great range of beers, outdoor seating and very good atmosphere. Would highly recommend this place.

We found The Cock and Bottle quite by chance. We peered into the pub and saw a number of empty tables. This is usually not a good sign for us. We entered anyway. From entering, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. We soon found a table. The C&B didn't appear busy because many tables had been reserved. Drinks and meals were quickly ordered and the drinks soon arrived at the table shortly after. We all opted for Sunday Lunch, ordering different meats. We certainly weren't prepared for the size of the Yorkshire puddings. Who says the Southerners can't make Yorkshire Puddings. We're from North Yorkshire. The Puddings were impressive. The meal was the best Lunch I had tasted in a very long time. The bill was the same as other outlets in the area. The service was first class. By the time we left the pub was filling up nicely. So glad we ventured in. Thank you Cock & Bottle. UPDATE MAY 2025 Sometimes it is a concern revisiting a site. Especially when the first visit was so exceptional. We need not have worried. In fact, the second visit surpassed the initial visit. Knowing how busy the C&K was on our first visit, we took the best option and booked a table. Rather than just wing it like our first visit. Like us, a few tables had been reserved. This was not a problem. It was permissible to use the table until the upcoming reservation time. Times which were clearly stated. We were soon shown to our table. Drinks were soon ordered and we were left to peruse the menu. We soon decided. As if intuitively the server sensed we were ready to order. It wasn't long before we were faced with a Sunday lunch which outdid our first visit. The beef was sublime and tasted even better than it looked. The Yorkshire Puddings were massive, and the veg was prepared to perfection. One of our party of three chose chicken. It literally fell off the bone it was cooked so perfectly. It was pleasing to see one of our namesake had a room named after them within the building. The Sutherland Room. We managed to have a chat with the owner. She had a wealth of information and was an exceptional guide for us. She informed us of the star status of the pub. With a connection to 'Killing Eve' and a certain artist called 'Banksy '. I will leave it for you to quiz the landlady when you visit. It was an exceptionally tasty lunch in such a pleasant atmosphere. We were so glad we revisited. Thank you all at The Cock and Bottle. We will meet again, I'm sure.

What a lovely pub this is, full of character and charm. We first visited 6 months ago and we were hoping it was just as good. We went for Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint. Fresh vegetables, roast beef and the biggest Yorkshire pudding I have ever eaten. We were served by a lovely lady who made sure we had all we needed. We will definitely be back on our next trip to London. Highly recommend.

Very charming victorian pub in a calm street of Notting Hill. We had a delicious lunch here. Great fish and chips, and other traditional British pub dishes. Great ambience and good service.
