About This Pub

Ah, The Vine Inn Bathams – what a lovely spot it is, tucked away in Brierley Hill with its own brewery just next door. I've got to say, the beer steals the show; that Batham's Bitter is smooth as silk and has that unique flavour that'll keep you coming back for more, just like the locals rave about. Pair it with a simple but tasty cob or pork pie, and you're in for a real treat without breaking the bank. The pub's got this wonderful, old-school vibe with different rooms full of character, and it's brilliant how they keep things conversation-friendly without any loud music – perfect for a good chinwag over a pint. From what I've seen in the reviews, most folks absolutely love it, with plenty of five-star shout-outs for the atmosphere and the brews. But, on the flip side, it's not all roses; there've been a few grumbles about bar staff being a bit distracted and leaving you hanging, which could spoil the experience if you're in a rush. Still, with such a solid reputation and being open every day from midday till late, it's well worth a visit if you're after an authentic pub day out – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

  • It's got that authentic, historic charm with various cosy rooms full of character, making it feel like a proper traditional pub where you can chat away without any background noise.
  • The food's a treat too – think delicious cobs and pork pies that pair perfectly with a pint, and it's all at a reasonable price.
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly locals and a real sense of community, especially since it's right next to the brewery.
  • It's consistently popular, with an excellent overall rating showing it's a favourite among regulars and visitors alike.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes fall short, like when you're left waiting at the bar while staff are chatting away, which might put you off on a busy day.
  • It can get a bit crowded, especially around lunchtime, making it tricky to get to the bar or find a seat when it's buzzing.

Absolutely classic black country pub with brewery attached. Lots of different rooms with various character(s), mild and bitter on handpull like it's 1980 again, cobs too. One of the essential visits in the black country.

Stood at the bar for 10 mins, I was ignored by both bar staff, continued to chatter and do anything except serve me a drink. Despite me being the only customer. in the end I gave up and left without having a second drink. That’s the only let down. The food is nice, good quality and cheap which is respectable in today’s economy. Nice outdoor area to sit. £3.50 for a large hot pork cob is great and only £1.50 for a big fresh homemade sausage roll. A proper Black Country pub. Old school decor. Nice place, give it a go.

Superb Best Bitter (brewed next door) accompanied with a delicious pork pie - a great combination at this truly classic Black Country gem. It can get congested around the bar at lunchtime it’s such a popular place to eat and drink. So encouraging to see conversation rules here - no music and hardly a 📱 in site 👍🏻

Delicious, smooth, creamy golden bitter ale. The best in the Midlands, if not the UK, in my opinion. There's something beautifully unique about Bathams you just can't put finger on. Totally moreish and goes down so easy, Nectar of the Gods, complete Heaven, or medicine as the locals call it. Combined with a pie, cob or pork scratchings a hew pints at The Vine is pure bliss. Friendly staff & atmosphere, wonderful service & great black country prices !! Been coming here for over ten years, Can't beat it !!

Bathams original pub where the beer is brewed in the adjacent brewery. I was filled with a sense of excitement as I approached the pub, the anticipation was high. Upon entering the pub I walked through the door on the right into the small bar at the front. Friendly locals discussing daily life over their pints of frothy foamy goodness. My pint was positively glowing, it glistened in the day light and was majestic it's appearance. Their bitter is classic, very malt forward with a nice sweetness from the malt sugars. A little hop bite and a touch of diacetyl. I stayed for a pint of mild and that for me was about as good as a mild could ever be. Creamy, sweet, full body and mouth feel, Moorish and effortlessly drinkable. The sense of history and importance in British brewing can be felt here. Wonderful enrichening experience that I won't forget
