About This Pub

Ah, the Corn Exchange – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in, tucked away in the heart of Brierley Hill with that classic Black Country charm. I've got to say, the staff are an absolute highlight; they're so attentive and cheerful, whether you're there for a family birthday bash or just nipping in for a drink, and it's brilliant how they cater to everyone, including families and dogs – they even hand out treats to the furry ones! The food's generally a treat too, with standout options like the steak and ale pie that's just spot on, and it's perfect for pairing with watching the big matches on Sky Sports or TNT. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few grumbles about portions being on the smaller side, like with the mixed grill that didn't quite live up to expectations, and there might be the occasional mishap where your meal doesn't come out exactly as ordered. Still, with a solid overall rating and that warm, community feel, it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep those points in mind for a smoother experience, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, helpful, and make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or a family meal.
  • The food is generally spot on; think tasty pies and hearty dishes that hit the spot, especially if you're settling in for some live sports action.
  • It's super family-friendly and dog-friendly too, with plenty of space and a welcoming vibe for groups, plus they even give treats to the pups!
  • The atmosphere is buzzing, particularly during big events like the Women's Euros or rugby matches, making it a great spot to catch the game with mates.
  • Clean surroundings and efficient service mean you won't be waiting around forever for your meal, and they've got handy facilities like parking and WiFi.
Cons
  • Portions can be a tad disappointing; some dishes, like the mixed grill, might leave you wanting more, especially if you're expecting a generous serving.
  • There have been a few slip-ups with food preparation, such as steaks coming out overcooked when you asked for medium, which is a bit of a shame.
  • While it's generally reliable, the odd dry dish or inconsistency in quality could put a damper on things if you're after something foolproof.

Amazing service at the Corn Exchange. Went as a family of 8 plus 2 dogs and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming. The manager Shaun was fab and the servers were polite and friendly. Food was served without delay and everything came out hot. They even gave our dogs treats. No issues with parking, just remember to input your car reg on the tablet. Would definitely recommend for a family dinning experience especially if you have dogs.

Nice place for a sunny Monday afternoon dinner with my partner. Food was nice but the mix grill in particular was a little dry and that's probably because of the hot plate it's served on. Nice portion on salad, steak and ale pie was really nice. Sarah was very helpful and friendly.

Food is lovely but the portions are disgraceful, mega mixed grill only had half or even a third of a chicken breast and steak was tiny? And clearly cut in half, maybe I'm just greedy but I thought an XL mixed grill would be a decent size, also the steak was very well done and I requested medium, beer is great no complaints there just won't return for food......
