About This Pub

Ah, The Vine – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its charming Edwardian vibes and all the little extras that make a visit memorable. I love how they've got live sports playing, a shuffleboard table for a bit of friendly competition, and that sunny garden that's just ideal for a lazy afternoon pint. The staff are top-notch too; they're quick to respond to emails and make you feel right at home, whether you're hosting a quiz night or just popping in for a meal. Their new Prix Fixe menu and deals like Wing Wednesday sound like brilliant value, and from what I've heard, the food can be delicious when it's on form. But let's be honest, it's not all perfect – I've seen a few mentions of service dragging on, like waiting ages for the bill, and some grub coming out less than ideal, such as tough lamb or cold sides. Still, with a strong 4.3 rating and plenty of positive vibes from events and meet-ups, it's worth a go if you're in the area. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up or a lively evening, just manage your expectations on the busier days and you'll likely have a great time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing – it's a proper Edwardian gastropub with a sunny garden and shuffleboard, making it perfect for a fun night out with mates.
  • Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly; they've got that warm welcome down pat, especially for events like pub quizzes or hiring rooms.
  • Food options are tempting, with deals like the new Prix Fixe menu and Wing Wednesday, and the overall vibe is great for watching live sports on Sky or TNT.
  • It's conveniently located near Kentish Town, with dog-friendly and family-friendly vibes, plus plenty of space for groups.
  • The rating speaks for itself – a solid 4.3 out of 5, with most folks raving about the delicious food and beautiful decor.
Cons
  • Service can be a tad slow at times, like when waiting for the bill or getting food out, which might frustrate you if you're in a hurry.
  • Food quality isn't always spot-on; some dishes, such as the roast lamb or mushroom strudels, have been reported as tough or cold, so it might not hit the mark every visit.
  • It can get quiet during off-peak hours, which is nice for a relaxed chat but might not feel as lively if you're after a proper buzz.

We hosted a pub quiz here on Tuesday and had the BEST time. The Vine were so great at replying to emails and helping with admin in the leadup.

Thank you so much to The Vine and to all its wonderful, helpful, friendly staff members. We hired the Highgate Room for a meeting + for lunch + early evening drinks and it was... incredible! The food was delicious and brilliantly presented. The room and the wider pub decor was beautiful. The service was exceptional. Couldn't recommend them highly enough :)

🚇 Kentish Town 🍺 £6.80 Estrella Galicia The Vine is located on the border between Kentish Town and Gospel Oak in Northwest London. The nearest Tube is Kentish Town. Just up the road is Little Green Street, one of the few intact Georgian streets in London. This pub has a history dating back to 1836, the pub you see today was built in the Edwardian era between 1901 to 1910. This pub is part of Greene King’s Metropolitan pub company stable of pubs. The is a deceptively large pub that has a contemporary feel with some nice traditional touches. As you enter the pub you arrive into the main bar area which has a good sized servery. The decor consists of a boarded floor, exposed brick walls, a Dunville’s mirror and a mix of seating. To left of the servery, through an arch, takes you into a sizeable dining area with an atrium above. To the side of the dining area is a raised section with two shuffleboard tables. At the front of the pub is an attractive front patio garden. The beer selection was pretty decent and offered a choice of local London brews, one cask ale and some familiar keg favourites. I decided on an Estrella Galicia, my pint was spot on, price point was punchy. There is a classic pub grub menu available, Fish & Chips costs £18.50, roasts are available on a Sunday. We arrived around 5pm on a pleasant Saturday afternoon in May. The main bar had a dozen or so punters in, most punters were lapping up the sunshine out the front. There was a nice convivial atmosphere around the pub as we supped our pints and watched a bit of the Fury V Usyk build up with a soulful house soundtrack playing in the background. The service was good, the team member who served us although rushed off her feet was welcoming and courteous. Visiting @thevinenw5 was a pleasant pub experience, this pub is well worth a look if you’re in the area. 📅 18th May 2025 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻

We visited for Sunday lunch, sadly would not be returning. Food was mostly nice although the roast lamb was very tough and the mushroom strudels came out cold! Service was very bad, friendly but absolutely glacial. We even had to wait 20 minutes for the bill even though we asked 4 times.

A great pub set back from the main road with an outside terrace/garden area. Perfect for a sunny day. Deceptively spacious inside pub with a large dining and games area round the back. We visited around 1.30pm so the pub was pretty quiet which suited us after several hours walking in nearby Hampstead Heath. Food was excellent and friendly service. Would definitely come back again if in the area
