About This Pub
Ah, The Bull and Last – what a gem it is up in North London! I've got to say, if you're after a proper pub experience with a twist, this place delivers in spades. The food is just spot on; imagine tucking into a stellar Sunday roast with perfectly cooked lamb, crispy roast potatoes, and all the trimmings, or perhaps their steak frites that's become a bit of a legend. It's all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and they change the menu daily, which keeps things exciting. The staff really make it special too – they're chatty, professional, and full of great advice on what to order, whether it's food or a fine wine. Pop in after a wander on Hampstead Heath, and you'll find the atmosphere cosy and inviting, with elegant rooms upstairs if you're fancying a stayover. That said, it's not without its downsides; the prices are a bit steep, so it feels more like a treat than an everyday spot, and it can get heaving at peak times, which might mean a wait. Still, for a balanced outing with mates, it's well worth it – just plan ahead and enjoy the good bits!

Sunday roast was banging! The lamb was so good and roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and veggies stellar. Just the right amount of gravy and friendly staff!
We dropped in for lunch after a walk on the Heath. Everything was perfect. We couldn't fault the food or the drinks, but the outstanding thing was the service. Cecile settled us in, gave us wonderful advice about food and beer and was friendly and professional. We are sorry that we are visiting and can't come back every week. Highly recommended.
Very much a gastro pub. Hampstead prices, so not cheap but excellent food.
The owner, Joe, has had this place for 16 years and is incredibly knowledgeable with the food & wine choices. He really helped our group of 6 people with starters, mains & wine choices.
I can recommend the fish platter, a 'substantive' starter; enough food for 2 or 3, with a great variety of different seafood tit bits.
The lamb, haddock and beef dishes (mains) were cooked to perfection.
Large & quality wine selection.
Old, historic building with vintage furniture and tasteful picture frames on the wall.
Only went for Sunday roast so I can’t speak to the hotel. Our meal was incredible and packed with all the trimmings. Environment was cozy and comfortable. Don’t skip the Sticky Toffee Pudding!
It’s a favourite for a reason. Went for Saturday lunch. It was heaving - good sign. It’s definitely a pub menu - it’s got pies and fish and chips and steaks. But far more interesting than that for the most part. My partner had the fish board (pictured). Which was awesome. I had regular old fish and chips - which were just really great. Nothing fancy about them - just really good. Bustling atmosphere. Knowledgable, friendly staff. Nice drinks. Definitely recommend.
