About This Pub

Ah, the Boston Arms, it's one of those pubs that just feels like home from the moment you walk in. I've heard from folks who've been there that the food is a standout – think juicy wings and sharing platters that hit the spot every time, with staff who are genuinely warm and attentive, making you feel right at ease. The historic building and that secret beer garden are perfect for soaking up the atmosphere, whether you're chilling in the snug or watching the match outside. It's dog-friendly too, which is a nice touch for us animal fans. On the flip side, if you're keen on a wide range of cask ales, you might find the options a tad limited, and it can get a bit boisterous with the football crowd, so it's not always the quietest spot. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun night out in Tufnell Park – I'd say give it a go if you're after good grub and a welcoming crowd, but keep in mind it might not be your cup of tea for a serene pint.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – reviewers rave about the new menu with tasty sharing plates, crispy wings, and flavour-packed dishes that make it a top choice for a bite.
  • It's a welcoming spot with super friendly staff who go the extra mile, like the chef personally sorting out substitutions, and it's dog-friendly which is brilliant for us pet lovers.
  • The beer garden, or 'The Yard', is a hidden gem with heaters for winter and a great vibe for summer pints, plus they've got outdoor telly for catching the sports.
  • Live music venues attached make it ideal for gigs, and there's a cosy snug area perfect for chats with mates, all set in a historic Victorian building that adds real character.
  • They show all the sports and have good pool tables, so it's a cracking place for a casual hang with friends.
Cons
  • The beer selection might disappoint if you're after cask ales, as one chap mentioned it's more about lagers and the like.
  • It can get a bit lively with football fans and some hearty language, which might not suit everyone looking for a quiet evening.

I visited the pub recently with a group of friends for drinks and we tried their new food menu. We ordered lots of picky sharing bits, and each dish was packed with flavour and cooked really well. Loved it and highly recommend to anyone looking for good food, drinks and live music.

Popped in for the football but ordered some snackies and chef popped up personally to explain they were out of something and to offer a bit extra of something else in substitution. Thing is, this was not a health food night and what we had was fried (chips, halloumi fries and squid fries) but WOW, cooked properly at high temperature so it was all crispy rather than swimming in oil. Really yummy and I will definitely be back and now want to try the rest of the menu.

Popped into The Boston Arms and had to try the new wings honestly, they were unreal. Super crispy, really juicy inside, and the sauce was banging. Their new menu looks delicious! Amazing pub and really friendly staff, one of my favourite pubs in North London! Also I love that it is dog friendly!

Different to (from) all the other hostelries I have visited today. This is very much a locals local with football to the fore. It is a cracking place as long as you don't want cask ales. My washing-up lager was spot on. Plenty of gutteral language but engaging and in no way threatening to outsiders like me, just a jolly time being had by all. Staff were assured and welcoming. A great pint.
