About This Pub

Ah, The Village Inn – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon haunts that you can always count on for a good value night out without splashing the cash. I have to say, the atmosphere is what really wins me over; that antique decor and historical charm make it feel like a step back in time, perfect for unwinding with friends over a chat. The food's another highlight – their breakfast comes highly recommended, and pairing it with something like a passion fruit cooler sounds like a treat. Plus, with its prime spot near the Underground, it's super convenient for a spontaneous stop. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses; I've heard a few tales of staff being a bit brusque, which can put a damper on things, and the bathrooms aren't always up to snuff, which is a shame when you're trying to enjoy your time. Overall, though, it's a solid choice if you're after an inexpensive, laid-back spot – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Incredibly affordable prices – you can snag a pint for just over £3, which is brilliant for keeping things light on the wallet.
  • The historical and antique ambience really gives it a charming, old-school feel that makes you want to linger and soak it in.
  • Tasty food options like their breakfast, which one mate absolutely raved about as the best they've had, paired with refreshing drinks.
  • Handy location right near the Underground station, making it dead easy to pop in for a quick pint or meal after a journey.
Cons
  • Some staff members can be a bit rude or off-putting, like one instance where a team member was outright insulting to visitors.
  • The bathrooms, especially the female ones, are often in a poor state, which can really dampen the experience.
  • Service isn't always consistent – it might be quick and efficient one day, but other times it falls a tad short.

My friends and me minimum 3-4 time came the this store. But today we were went their team member Adam’s behaviour very rude and also not good with my friends. He is insulting in-front of other customers. We regularly spend 20-30 pound at the store. So make sure take strick action to Adam.

First time in, but £3.30 for a pint of Guinness was a very pleasant surprise! Typical Spoons, the atmosphere is created by you. I don't do the app, but counter service was quick and efficient.

I am pretty regular costumer and I would like to give my personal opinion based on my experience . I would like to start off… Female bathroom ( feedback from my partner)most of the time is in a terrible state ,sometimes can’t use a toilet due to poor condition. Some members of staff behind the bar lacking experience I guess due to their age and their ability. No communication with the customer when it comes to serving spirits and mixers . They gladly serve you double amount of spirit ( when you order ) with excessive amount of mixer( juice.. etc) and that’s not acceptable . If I wanted a glass of juice I would get it from a store . Tables are not clean on regular basis ..wet and sticky . Here is another issue .. a member of staff behind the bar “offering” a customer a half a pint of alcoholic drink based on personal observations ( assuming the customer had enough ) That happened to me … I had a breakfast and an alcoholic drink in the morning .When I finished all I was going to order another drink and then I heard from a member of staff behind the bar that I should have a half a pint because I don’t look good .She left me speechless and I felt quite upset by her comment .Unbelievable. Thinking like that is … majority of the pub customers should have been refused an alcoholic drink because they had more than one pint . I wish the customer service was better and members of staff could do better job ( some ) Apart from that all good .Lovely pub .

I visited last month. A smaller 'Spoons not far from the Underground station. Another branch that offers the very reasonable 'Top Plates, Low Rates' deals. I had an All Day Brunch and a pint for £5.99. Not bad at all! A Traditional Breakfast (if you are there before Noon) can be had for as little as £2.99! Food was well prepared and good portion for the money. After clocking up over 100 visits to 'Spoons (still open for business), I'm coming to the conclusion that not all 'Spoons are equal in what is offered. Many of the smaller branches - such as The Village Inn - make more of an effort in terms of service, food quality, presentation and beer quality, than many of the larger, more popular branches elsewhere. If in the area, worth a visit. Also do a better than average range of Real Ales too, for £2.26 a pint.
