About This Pub
Ah, The View, what a gem it is tucked away in Pegsdon's nature reserve – you can't beat that panoramic outlook over the hills while you're sipping on a drink or tucking into a meal. From what I've gathered from folks' chats, it's got this warm, lively vibe that makes you feel right at home, with staff who are always up for a chat and dishing out recommendations. The grub's mostly spot on too; think delicious starters that get everyone excited, and mains like fish and chips or a pie that's cooked to perfection – ideal for rounding off a countryside stroll. But, fair play, it's not all perfect; there was that one mention of a burger that didn't quite live up to expectations, so maybe it's best to go for the crowd-pleasers if you're playing it safe. Overall, it's a cracking place for a bite and a breather, especially if you're after that mix of nature and nosh, and I'd say it's worth a visit for anyone looking to escape the hustle for a bit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The views are absolutely stunning – imagine sitting with a pint, gazing out at those green hills and pastures; it's dead relaxing and perfect for unwinding after a walk.
-
The food hits the spot most of the time, with tasty starters like halloumi fries and solid mains such as fish and chips or a hearty beef and Guinness pie; it's all nicely presented and feels like a proper treat.
-
The staff are super friendly and create a welcoming atmosphere, full of energy and buzz, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or a full meal.
-
It's a brilliant spot for families or mates, with options like kids' menus and even those cosy pods for staying over, making it ideal for a getaway in a picturesque setting.
Cons
-
There might be the odd slip-up with the food, like one person mentioning a chewy beef burger, so it's worth choosing carefully if you're after something specific.
-
With its location in a quiet hamlet, it could feel a bit out of the way if you're not planning a walk or drive, and the hours wrap up fairly early, around 8 or 9 pm most days.

A nice experience, it's rightly called the view. You can look at the landscape for hours. It's very soothing, green hills and pastures. You can spot an occasional hiker on the track starting from here. Worth visiting!
Stopped here after a lovely walk on the nature trust trail, absolutely beautiful view all around from sitting in the garden to then moving inside for some beautiful food. Would definitely recommend The View. Sorry didn't take any pictures of the food but it was nicely presented and very tasty.
We were travelling for a wedding and booked to come here for dinner. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was great. Loved the country music. 🎶
We had starters which were delicious. Unfortunately, the main meal wasn’t the best. we both had burgers. My husbands beef burger was chewy and tasted off. I had a chicken burger which tasted like a frozen one from Tesco and was incredibly dry. The chips however were DELICIOUS.
We shared this with the server at the end and my husbands meal was removed. Which we weren’t expecting.
Oh and the red wine was also delicious! 🙌🏼
Overall it was a calm environment, super peaceful.
Perfect place for food after the walk. The food quality is good too. We have fish and chips and scampi light meal. Very reasonable and good quality, will be back to here next time soon!
We visited The View, as a half term treat. The food was delicious. We started with the Halloumi fries with aioli and parmasan 😍I had the "homemade beef and Ginuess pie. I went for chips and the seasonal vegetables were cooked to perfection. The kids meals were a very good size, sorry didn't take pictures of those, far too busy enjoying mine.
But my favourite has to be the Bailey's creme brulee 😍 The children firmly voted the Nutella Benignue (I know that's spelt wrong) the "best desert ever"
We sat in the outside pod which gives you a lovely View of countryside that surrounds this beautiful village pub.
