About This Pub

You know, when you step into the Green Man, it's like finding that perfect spot for a proper catch-up – the kind of place where the food hits the spot with its hearty pub classics and fresh seasonal twists, and they've got options for those with dietary needs too. I love how the staff go the extra mile, always with a smile and ready to recommend a drink or dish, making you feel right at home. The beer garden is a real gem on a sunny day, with those stunning rural views that make you forget the week's hustle. On the flip side, it's a bit out in the sticks, so it might not be the easiest if you're not up for a drive, and the hours are more for daytime and evening sessions rather than all-nighters. All things considered, it's a cracking choice for a relaxed meal or a weekend wander, giving you that balanced mix of charm and comfort without any fuss.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious, with a great selection of pub classics and seasonal specials that cater to all tastes, including gluten-free options – perfect for a satisfying meal.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit feel warm and welcoming, just like chatting with old mates over a pint.
  • It's got a cosy atmosphere with a charming beer garden offering breathtaking views of the countryside, ideal for relaxing afternoons or evenings.
  • Fantastic value for money with reasonably priced meals and drinks, making it a brilliant spot for family gatherings or casual catch-ups.
Cons
  • It's a bit tucked away in the countryside, so getting there might require a drive, which isn't ideal if you're relying on public transport.
  • The opening hours are fairly standard, so if you're after a lively late-night venue, you might find it winds down a tad early.

We had a lovely lunch here on Father's day. The fixed menu was reasonably priced, there were good choices including gluten free options and the food was very tasty. The table was easy to book online and Tom the bar attendant and waiter was very helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The outdoor bar is well stocked and it's really handy to order drinks outside. We sat outside to enjoy the sun and the great views over the valley. Will come here again.

Good Mother Day experience to be had at this charming pub in the countryside between Luton and Hitchin. Excellent choices of food for a three course meal and very well served by the guys there who made it worthwhile. Would have stayed in the garden and enjoyed the views. Definitely a place to come back to.
