About This Pub
Ah, The Turls Green, it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon haunts that you can pop into for a bite and a pint without fuss. I've got to say, what really stands out is how wallet-friendly it is; you can treat the family to a full meal including desserts and soft drinks for just £30, which feels like a proper win these days. The staff are absolute gems too – always polite and helpful, even when the place is buzzing with people, like during events in Centenary Square. Sitting outside with a view of the fountain is lovely on a sunny day, and the food can be spot on, with options like a tasty jacket potato or a bargain breakfast. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; I've heard tales of meals turning up cold or not quite right, which can be disappointing after waiting around. And while the location's great, it does attract a mixed crowd sometimes, making you wish for a bit more security to keep things calm. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together or a quick meal, especially if you're mindful of the busier times – just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a good time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The prices are spot on – you can get a cracking meal for a family without breaking the bank, like a full spread for just £30, which is brilliant value.
-
The staff are genuinely friendly and polite; they've got that welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home, even when things get busy.
-
It's got a great location in Centenary Square, with nice outdoor seating where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the view of the fountain.
-
The place is kept clean, and there's a good selection of food and drinks, including tasty options like a tuna mayo jacket potato or a hearty breakfast.
Cons
-
Food quality can be hit or miss; some dishes arrive cold or congealed, which is a real shame when you're looking forward to a proper meal.
-
There are occasional safety concerns, especially outside, like unsavoury characters showing up even on a Sunday lunch, which might put you off relaxing.
-
In busy periods, like during events in the square, things can get a bit chaotic with long waits or service slip-ups, making it stressful for everyone.
-
Accessibility isn't always straightforward, though the staff do try their best, it might not be ideal for those with mobility needs in a crowd.

Great location. Sat outside in the sun was good till the crackheads arrive and this was Sunday lunch.
Good was amazing. Family of 4 are for 30 quid with deserts and non alcoholic drinks. Can't complain.
Needs a doorman at all times tho I'd say.
I just wanted to hop on to praise the service here. There’s an event happening in centenary square and it’s packed, which is stressful for the staff (I imagine) and a nightmare for my husband who is a wheelchair user. I just went in from the beer garden to scope out the accessible toilet and goodness knows how he will get there because there are people everywhere. But he’s already told me that two separate members of staff have cleared people out of the way for him to get to and from the bar.
You don’t always get that kind of awareness and consideration even on quiet days and even at more expensive places. I couldn’t praise this team of staff enough and I hope their manager knows how considerate they are.
Also great prices and fantastic selection - I much appreciate this as a picky cider drinker.
Thank you for making our visit a great experience.
Just sampled one of the new gourmet Big smoke burgers. It came out barely even tepid, the young guy serving was very apologetic and returned it to the kitchen. My friends meal was 90% eaten by the time my replacement arrived. It was also cold and conjealed. I prefer my burgers without a side order of food poisoning so returned it to the manager this time asking for a refund.
I can't believe he actually deducted the cost of the accompanying drink from the refund.
I'd suggest taking the crayons from the eating area and giving them to the kitchen staff as it appears the basics of hot and cold are above them.
The staff were very friendly and polite and the food was really tasty. It is quite big inside and has tables outside too looking out towards the fountain which was quite nice. The photo is of the Tuna mayo jacket potato
A no-nonsense, efficient wetherspoons with good service, particularly from Stacey.
I had a regular sized traditional breakfast with extra black pudding and a hot drink for £4.93 ordered at the bar. I ordered a very good ale on the app for £3.45.
Clean throughout the restaurant despite being quite busy. All in all, a good wetherspoons pub.
Worth visiting if you're in the area.
