About This Pub
Ah, The Three Locks – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper British gem, tucked away by the Grand Union Canal in Stoke Hammond. I have to say, it's got that warm, inviting charm where you can pop in with mates for a catch-up, and the food really steals the show; think mouthwatering Sunday roasts with incredible porchetta and the freshest fish and chips you've had in ages – it's all so hearty and well-prepared, you'd be hard-pressed not to leave satisfied. The outdoor seating by the water is just lovely for a sunny afternoon, and with options like free WiFi and a car park, it's super convenient. Plus, being dog-friendly adds to that easy-going feel, perfect for a casual day out. On the downside, if you go when it's packed, like during peak times, the service might drag a bit, and I've heard a few mentions of uneven portion sizes, which could be a minor letdown. Overall, with its solid reputation and that welcoming buzz, it's a great spot for a relaxed meal or drink, but maybe plan ahead for quieter visits to get the best of it.
Pros and Cons

-
It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off with your four-legged mate.
-
They offer a great selection of drinks, from local ales to wines and spirits, plus menus that cater to all sorts, including kids and gluten-free options.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit slow when it's really busy, like on Sundays or holidays, which might put a dampener on things if you're in a rush.
-
Portion sizes aren't always consistent, as some folks have noted, so you might get a generous serving one time and not the next.

Visited for Sunday Roast on Father’s Day and the Porchetta was insane! Best cauliflower cheese I have ever tasted in a pub! . Service was a bit slow on this occasion, but it was SO busy and a full house, so not surprising. Portion sizes of porchetta itself were varied, but incredibly tasty. We will be back.x
Great food, I had the (small) fish and chips and it was super fresh and crisp. The mushy peas were also really tasty, and tartar sauce was truly home made...all delish!
Also super friendly clientele, and great fun watching the barges navigate thru the, errr, three locks!!!
Here was wonderful Sunday roast. Located next to the road and canal. Have seat inside and outside sitting. Food and service was very impressive. We will come back again.
I went to a taproom in Camden, but not that one. Instead I opted for the independent @3locksbeer and I wasn't disappointed.
As many good taprooms are, this one is located in a railway arch. At the heart of the bustle of Camden, it's a great place to stop and relax with a beer. I was there on a rainy bank holiday day so plenty of folk were taking shelter - tourists and locals alike. Some were having a game of Settlers, others taking a break from seeing the sights with their children. There was even someone else making social media content.
With upstairs, downstairs and outdoor seating you can choose your position to survey either the world going by or the goings on in the brewery itself. I opted for upstairs where a range of different seating types gave me the opportunity to get my laptop out to finish off preparing a presentation.
A decent range of beers and styles is on offer, all from the brewery itself. I opted for their pale ale - a citrus one with a hint of orange peel bitterness - and the excellent Hefeweizen which has all those banana esters you look for in the style. And if you've got room in your bag, there's a great range of cans and merch to buy and takeaway with you.
Next time you're in Camden, or close by, take a detour down Water Lane and grab a beer or two - you won't regret it. 3 Locks Brewing Company taproom is open every day of the week too, so there's no excuse really!
And remember: support local! support indy!
We had a wonderful lunch at The Three Locks. The food was exactly what you'd hope for from a classic English pub; hearty, delicious, and well prepared. The staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was great and the location by the water, near the lock, was just perfect. I couldn't recommend this place enough!
