About This Pub

Ah, The Old Red Lion – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air, tucked away in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, folks are raving about the food; it's all about those seasonal flavours and locally sourced ingredients that make every bite feel special, whether you're tucking into a summer pizza or a hearty Sunday roast. The staff sound like absolute stars, always up for a chat and even spotting ways to save you a few quid, which is just lovely. And let's not forget that beer garden with its unbeatable views – it's the perfect spot to relax with a drink and maybe bring the dog along for the fun. On the flip side, it's worth noting that things can get a bit pricey, so if you're planning a meal, budget accordingly. Plus, with it only being open five days a week, you might need to check the schedule to avoid disappointment. All in all, it's a solid choice for a get-together with mates or a family outing, offering that warm, community-hearted vibe without trying too hard – I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The historical charm and community feel really shine through, making it a lovely place to unwind and enjoy a pint or two.
Cons
  • Prices can be a bit steep, like the £24 Sunday roast, which might make you think twice if you're watching the pennies.
  • It's only open five days a week, so you might have to plan around that if you're hoping for a spontaneous visit on a weekend off.

Great pub with delicious food. Especially now the full summer menu is on. Unbeatable views from the beer garden and the staff are really friendly too. Can't get better than this.

Very good Sunday Roast 👌 with a great selection of meals and an epicly cooked sirloin of beef 🥩 Price quite high @ £ 24 per person, altho saying that, they certainly don't scrimp on the servings 😁 so would definitely recommend 👌🙏

Really surprised and impressed. The food on offer was freshly made and extremely tasty. The staff were so friendly and actually came back to us after we placed our order to say that there was an offer on and it would be cheaper for us to change our order. There was no attempt to squeeze as much out of us and never see us again. This attitude is hard to come by nowadays and I will definitely be back. Brilliant place!

We went to the Old Red Lion for Sunday lunch and like many reviewers, we were not disappointed. All staff we interacted with were friendly and smiled, and the Sunday Roast options are without question the best we have sampled around this area. Fresh and very good quality food is served. A good range of wines are offered, and lovely desserts topped off our visit!
