About This Pub

You know, chatting about The Globe Inn feels like recommending a favourite local haunt – it's got that warm, welcoming energy you'd expect from a Greene King pub. Picture this: you're sat by the canal after a lovely walk, soaking up the historic vibes and maybe letting the dog join in on the fun. The food really shines through in the reviews, with folks raving about the home-cooked style dishes, indulgent desserts, and those summer specials that sound absolutely mouthwatering. It's family-friendly too, with plenty of space in the beer garden for a proper get-together. On the flip side, it's only fair to mention that one review highlighted a long wait for food, which could be a bit frustrating if you're in a rush or popping in for a quick bite. All in all, it's a solid choice for a catch-up with mates or a relaxed meal, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the positives definitely outweigh the niggles, making it worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got a cracking waterside location by the canal, ideal for a stroll and a pint afterwards.
  • The food is spot on – think tasty Sunday roasts, specials like beef and ale croquettes, and great value deals like Steak Thursdays.
  • It's super dog-friendly and family-oriented, with a welcoming vibe for everyone, including a beer garden to enjoy the outdoors.
  • The staff are really attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Loads of handy facilities like WiFi, a car park, and that historic charm that gives it a hidden gem feel.
Cons
  • Wait times for food can drag on a bit, as one person mentioned waiting over 50 minutes, which might spoil the fun on a busy day.
  • It's tucked away down a narrow, winding road, so it might be a tad tricky to find or access if you're not local.

The wait time for food was about 50 minutes in the end I got up and asked what was happening with our food we wasn’t the only one having to wait ages By this time I was thinking of leaving being late afternoon didn’t have much choice the staff was very apologetic and gave me a drink on the house and was very sorry for the delay they didn’t have every table full or too busy so I would hate to see what would be like if a full house The food was lovely well presented a nice meal shame about the wait The other point is the toilet area doors and handles could have been cleaned didn’t want to touch them after washing my hands Not the best experience sorry

We met up here, on the off chance, for a lunch and a catch up. My friends chose the venue as it was a halfway point between them and us, it was dog friendly and run by Greene King. The pub is well situated on the canal and has some good riverside walks to exercise the dog. The food was spectacular and we'll presented. A good find!

Really tasty, home cooked style, good quality food. The service was spot on, not overbearing but attentive. We would definitely return. The pub has loads of history with tasteful decor. The interesting vehicular access makes this place feel like a hidden gem.

Was craving a Sunday roast after a weekend wedding away. Found this ‘hidden gem’. The Global Inn is tucked away in a windy and narrow road over a tiny bridge overlooking a river canal. The food hit the spot- it was delicious! We got the turkey and beef duo. Along with the rumble / pie and the mini dessert of Eaton Mess with a cuppa! Would have had the same thing for breakfast lunch and dinner any day of the week! Staff were great, attentive and friendly. The venue was clean, warm and welcome. Would definitely come back. Wish that was my local. Other points to share: - seems to be a dog friendly venue - looks to be relatively wheelchair friendly ( a wash room on the ground floor and ramps ) - car park situation behind the venue - narrow but short road
