About This Pub

Ah, The Dolphin Pub – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local gem in Stoke Hammond. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the food really steals the show; those Sunday roasts are bang on, with generous helpings of tasty meats and veg that leave you feeling well satisfied. The overall vibe is spot on too – it's light, airy, and welcoming, perfect for catching up with mates over a pint of premium lager or a rotating real ale. The staff are an absolute treat, always friendly and attentive, which makes the whole visit that bit more enjoyable. Plus, with the outdoor patio and garden areas, it's ideal for a sunny day, and being dog-friendly in the bar means you can bring the furry friend along. On the flip side, though, the bar area's walk-in only, so if you're planning a night out, you might find yourself queuing if it's buzzing, and food service does end a bit early on some days, which could cramp your style if you're after a late bite. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts looking for good grub and a relaxed time, but it's worth checking ahead to avoid any disappointments.

As a local, I can honestly say The Dolphin in Stoke Hammond is a real treasure. The Sunday roasts are absolutely lovely – generous portions, beautifully cooked meats, and all the trimmings done just right. You can tell care goes into every plate. The atmosphere is great too – warm, welcoming, and just what you’d hope for from a proper village pub. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet pint or a family meal, it always feels relaxed and friendly.

We love the Dolphin and went again last night for our anniversary. Food was exceptional as always, as was the service. Thanks to all the staff, keep up the great work.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. The pub looks much smaller from the front, but it is big, light and airy once inside, with a huge patio in the sun for afternoon drinks etc. We had the sharing lunch which was huge, and beautifully cooked. All the meats were tasty, as were the vegetables. Daughter had risotto with chicken, again a decent portion and tasty. Sorbets and lemon tart to finish, with good, friendly and un-rushed service.

Visited The Dolphin with friends and had a fantastic experience. The decor and ambiance are lovely, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We were seated by the back doors, which were open to a bustling garden on a beautiful day. We started with the sharing platter, and wow! The portion size was enormous – easily enough for 3-4 people. For our main course, we shared the roast dinner (a mix of lamb, beef, and pork), which came with all the trimmings: roast potatoes, vegetables, pigs in blankets, and more. It was absolutely delicious, and there was more than enough for two. For dessert, I couldn't resist the chocolate brownie, and it didn't disappoint – a perfect end to a wonderful meal. The staff were also lovely and attentive throughout our visit. I would definitely recommend The Dolphin and will certainly be back!

Recently refurbished and beautifully decorated dining room within the pub. Food was awesome, steak and cheese pie was particularly memorable - delicious. In fact all the food was amazing. Service was super friendly. The young lady serving was really happy to engage with us, and the whole experience was just perfect. Definitely going again soon.
