About This Pub
You know, chatting about The Three Horseshoes feels like recommending a favourite local spot to mates – it's got that timeless country pub appeal in St Albans, perfect for unwinding after a stroll or a day out. The food really shines through in the reviews; people rave about the Sunday roasts, with the lamb and beef coming out tender and full of flavour, paired with spot-on roast potatoes that leave you satisfied. The staff get a big thumbs-up too, being warm and efficient, which adds to the homely atmosphere with its traditional beams, wooden floors, and those inviting log fires or garden seats on a sunny day. It's brilliant for dog owners or anyone exploring the nearby walks and lakes, making it a handy pitstop. On the flip side, there are a couple of gripes about takeaways – stories of incomplete orders, rude responses when things go wrong, and even some subpar items like dry fries or dodgy burgers that didn't live up to expectations. Still, with an overall solid rating from the crowd, I'd say it's worth a visit for a proper sit-down meal and a chat, just maybe steer clear of ordering out to keep things smooth.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The food is absolutely spot on, especially the Sunday roasts like the slow-cooked lamb and beef – they're packed with flavour and make for a proper hearty meal.
-
The staff are so welcoming and friendly, always ready with a smile and attentive service that really makes you feel at home.
-
It's got that classic country pub charm with exposed beams, wooden floors, and cosy log fires, plus beautiful gardens for when the weather's nice.
-
Dog-friendly and in a great spot for walkers or anglers, with plenty of nearby walks and scenery to enjoy before popping in for a drink.
-
Prices are reasonable, and they've got a well-stocked bar with cask ales, fine wines, and British gins to suit all tastes.
Cons
-
There have been a few mishaps with takeaway orders, like getting incomplete items and dealing with unhelpful staff, which can put a dampener on things.
-
Some folks have mentioned disappointing food experiences, such as dry fries or what seemed like artificial meat in burgers, so it might not always hit the mark.

Thank-you too Kirk and Jason the chefs that cooked our Sunday dinner. The slow cooked lamb was lovely so much flavour. And my husband had the beef, roast potatoes were yummy, seasoned to perfection. Well done Three Horses Shoes.
Warm welcome by the staff and very nice atmosphere. Tracy was a great host and we really enjoyed our food. Highly recommend and thanks
Ordered food for collection, get incomplete order! When I called them they were rude! I Paid almost £18 for dry fries and incomplete burger!
Also this burger is some kind of artificial meat! Awful!
Do not recommend!
The food quality was excellent and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant's interior is aesthetically pleasing, and the staff provided friendly and efficient service. Significant improvements have been made since my previous visit several years ago.
I had the most amazing dining experience during my first visit to this restaurant. The meal was absolutely delightful, particularly the lamb chop, and it exceeded my expectations. The pricing was reasonable. The staff, especially Lucas, were exceptionally courteous and attentive. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner there.
