About This Pub
Ah, The Plough in St Albans – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its charming, old-school feel, like a favourite local haunt you'd chat about over a round. From what I've gathered from the reviews, most folks absolutely love the place; it's got that welcoming service that makes you feel like you're catching up with mates, and the beers are always spot on, well-kept and refreshing. The food often steals the show too, with stories of exceptional starters and brilliant meals for big groups, perfect for a family get-together or a casual bite. But, to keep it real, there was that one off review where the burger fell flat – something about it being a bit underwhelming with overly sharp sauces and chips that tasted off – so it might not be the go-to for everyone if you're after a flawless meal. Still, with such a strong overall vibe and high marks from the crowd, I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed evening; just go in with an open mind and maybe stick to the crowd-pleasers.

Lovely old fashion pub! Can't comment on food as never eaten here.
Just popped in with a couple of friends for a drink. Will try the food another day. It looked very good. The beer was well kept and the service very friendly and welcoming. Worth a visit if you gaven't visited the pub before.
We had a large family gathering just after Christmas with up to 30 of us at one time. The food was excellent with people having anything from sandwiches to roast dinners. Everyone enjoyed it. The landlord and staff were calm and efficient especially as another event was in progress. Will very happily go again
Absolutely delicious food, and nice decor and atmosphere too. All our starters were exceptional. Last night was too wet to eat outside unfortunately but the garden looked so pretty, we will be back!
Ordered the lamb burger (see on photo) which consisted of a rather sad white bap and the meat bun, that’s it. Mint sauce on the side was extremely acidic, chips tasted burnt oil…I think it’s more than a disgrace to serve this as “burger”, feel disappointed and rather angry. Rest of the table ordered beef roast which was similarly underwhelming. Don’t go here hungry.
