About This Pub
Ah, The Sun Inn in Great Yarmouth – I reckon it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles on a chilly day. From the reviews I've seen, folks are raving about the food; those Sunday roasts sound like a proper treat, with massive, tasty portions and gravy that's spot on. It's not just the roasts either – everything from lasagne to burgers gets high marks for flavour and variety. The team behind the bar are dead helpful and make you feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a meal. Plus, it's brilliant for dog owners, with a special menu for your pooch, which adds a nice touch. On the flip side, there was that one review where someone had a right faff with their order not matching what was described, which is a shame and could spoil an otherwise lovely visit. Overall, with a solid 4.1 rating from heaps of positive feedback, it's worth a go if you're in the area, but maybe give the menu a quick double-check when you order to avoid any surprises. You'd probably have a cracking time sharing a laugh over a meal here with mates.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, with generous portions and bags of flavour – think cracking Sunday roasts and tasty options like burgers and nachos that really hit the spot.
-
The staff are lovely and super helpful, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a welcoming spot with different areas to suit your mood, like a bustling main bar or a quieter spot with a pool table.
-
Dog-friendly vibes all the way, complete with a menu for your four-legged mate, which is a real bonus for us animal lovers.
-
Great value for money, especially for a hearty meal that leaves you satisfied without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
There have been a few slip-ups with orders, like one instance where a dish came with an unexpected topping, which put a damper on things for some.
-
No website means it's a bit tricky to check the menu or hours in advance, so you might end up winging it.
-
The overall rating is solid, but that 20% of lower reviews suggests not every visit is perfect, so it pays to keep expectations realistic.

Yet ANOTHER fantastic Sunday Roast at The Sun, Bradwell celebrating my birthday with family and friends.
The food I have to say, not only is it super generous in portion size, but incredibly tasty, everything has taste, no blandness, and as for the gravy, perfect!
The value for money is exceptional, I cannot recommend their Sunday lunches enough! Nothing is too much trouble, really enjoyable, thank you Alison, Colin and your team!

Have been here a few times since it reopened. The staff are really nice and couldn't be more helpful. The food was excellent. Busy main bar area but quiet smaller bar with pool table.
Welcome and service was lovely. The food I would recommend 😋 I had homemade lasagne with salad and garlic bread, my friend had scampi and chips. Good portion size at a reasonable cost.
Also dog friendly, with a dog menu.
Came to the pub with some friends for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Ordered cottage pie from the menu. It didn't state on the menu the topping was cheesy. But I don't like cheese. But my husband asked to be on the safe side. He was told by 2 staff member. It was normal mash. After my husbands food arrived, I was told the potatoe was cheesy. And they had to do me another one and said they were sorry about thr mistake. OK so I thought. When my food arrived I was shocked to be honest. I got a bowl of mince with mash potato plonked on top. on the top. Great looking cottage pie (not) that I paid £12 for. It tasted mew but I ate most of it. As I was very hungry and have just come out of hospital after surgery and didn't really want to make a fuss. But thinking about it I told my husband to say something. As this was not exceptabale. Thought would have been offered a free drink or some money off. Shocking. Well I won't be eaten here again after this. Great customer service and outstanding cottage pie. Which wasn't even a cottage pie. And it didn't even state the topping was cheesy mash
Best pub in the area with excellent food. Had a really great time. Personnel is really nice and helpful. U have all sorts of food options, from veggie/normal lasagna, mac&cheese, burgers (really wonderful) and the best nachos i had in the UK. Would totally recommend and visit again.
