About This Pub

Ah, the Kevill Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Gorleston-on-Sea. From the reviews, most folks are absolutely chuffed with the place; the bar staff are dead helpful and keep things cheerful, even on a busy night, which makes for a right enjoyable time. Whether you're popping in for a pint of cheap beer, catching the footy with a crowd, or even something more subdued like a wake, they've got it covered with a smashing buffet and a freshly done-up interior that adds a nice touch. It's got that lively buzz with karaoke and dancing sessions that could make for a brilliant Saturday night out. But, to be fair, there was this one off-putting moment where someone was turned down for a glass of tap water – that's a bit of a shame and not on, really, as it might make you think twice about going back. Overall, with a solid 4.3 rating, it's mostly positives, and I'd say it's worth giving it a go if you're in the area, just keep an eye out for the little things that could be improved.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is really welcoming and friendly, making it a great spot for a casual night out or watching the footy.
  • Service at the bar is spot on, with staff keeping a smile on even when it's busy, and they handle events like wakes brilliantly with an excellent buffet.
  • Prices are reasonable, especially for beer, so you won't break the bank for a good pint.
  • The pub has a fresh, pleasant look after what seems like a recent refurb, adding to the overall charm.
  • It's lively with activities like karaoke and dancing, perfect for a fun evening with mates.
Cons
  • There was an instance where they refused a glass of tap water, which goes against the rules and could put some people off on their first visit.
  • With only a handful of recent reviews, it might not always be consistent, so it's worth checking before heading out.

We were here for a wake, but the service at the bar was good, and the buffet was excellent, pleasant surroundings looking as though it has recently been refurbished.

Unbelievably we were refused a glass of tap water with our round of four beers. Contrary to the Licensing Act 2003 we were told that we would have to buy bottled water. This was our first visit to this pub and will likely be our last.

Absolutely brilliant pub! Went in as was visiting the area as have family that live nearby. Very welcoming and went to watch the Euros (2024). Friendly bunch of people, lovely landlady Jill and cheap beer! Whats not to like! Football finished and out came the karaoke, really great atmosphere.
