About This Pub

Ah, The Sugar Loaf – what a hidden gem in Easton, Bristol! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place has really come into its own with a fresh transformation that keeps that lovely community spirit alive. Picture this: you're out in the beer garden on a warm summer evening, soaking up the sun with a cold one in hand – it's just spot on for relaxing or catching up with friends. Inside, it's all cosy and quirky with some great artwork on the walls, making it ideal for watching the footy or challenging someone to a game of pool. The staff are proper friendly too, always up for a chat, which really makes you feel at home. On the flip side, though, the drinks prices can be a tad on the high side – I mean, splashing out nearly £12 for a couple of pints might make you think twice if you're on a budget. And if you're after non-alcoholic choices, it's a bit slim pickings there, so that could be a letdown for some. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out, but I'd say go in with your eyes open and maybe plan for a cheeky round or two rather than going all out. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit for that unbeatable garden alone!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer garden is an absolute gem, especially on a sunny day – it's got such a lovely vibe that makes you want to linger for hours.
  • It's got a really cosy and welcoming interior with a strong community feel, perfect for catching up with mates over a pint.
  • They offer a great selection of beers, and it's an excellent spot for watching sports or having a game of pool or darts.
  • The staff are genuinely friendly and add to that quirky, homely atmosphere with their warm service.
Cons
  • Drinks can feel a bit steep – like nearly £12 for two pints, which might put a dent in your evening plans.
  • The low or no-alcohol options are quite limited, so if you're driving or taking it easy, you might not find much on offer.

What a lovely pub! Alex has done a fantastic job transforming this pub and giving it the life it needs whilst still having a lovely community feel. The interior is nice and cosy but the beer garden is where this pub shines. Lovely vibe outside especially in the summer sun. Can’t recommend this pub enough!

Good welcoming boozer, low/no alcohol options suck though, ClearHead on draft and this would be a great pub!

Didn't stay long for food. Everyone was nice and busy in the beer garden. Nearly £12 for two pints put me off. But I would go there again

Very quirky pub, went here to watch the footy and found a spot on one side of the bar with a good view of the telly. Lovely staff working at the bar and the art work on the walls and vibe of the pub were really nice. Keen to come back another time and have a go at the dart board and pool tables as they also seemed popular with other punters.
