About This Pub

Ah, The Plough Inn – it's one of those Bristol spots that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? I've got to say, the food really steals the show; whether it's those legendary Sunday roasts that hit the spot every time or the tacos that transport you straight to sunnier climes, it's clear they've got their grub sorted. The team behind the bar are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and quick to accommodate, which makes popping in for a pint or a bite feel like catching up with old friends. Plus, that outdoor area is a winner for when the weather's on your side, and their community efforts, like the Collective Yes initiative, show they're about more than just pints – it's about creating a safe, inclusive space for everyone. On the flip side, it can get a bit chaotic when things pick up, with the menu sometimes playing hide and seek, and you might find yourself navigating a few service quirks that could use a bit of smoothing out. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, as long as you're up for going with the flow and appreciating the good vibes that outweigh the minor niggles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think mouthwatering Sunday roasts and tacos that could rival anything from Mexico, making it a brilliant spot for a hearty meal with mates.
  • The staff are so welcoming and on point; they'll go out of their way to sort you out, like reserving seats or whipping up homemade desserts that leave you smiling.
  • It's got a cracking atmosphere where you can just be yourself, with a top-notch outdoor area that's perfect for a chat and a smoke on a Bristol evening.
  • They're really community-minded, with initiatives like Collective Yes tackling important issues, which adds a lovely warm vibe to the place.
  • At an inexpensive price level, it's great value for a proper pub experience without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • The menu can be a bit unpredictable at times, popping up and disappearing, which might leave you scratching your head if you're there for the food.
  • It can get pretty busy, especially in the evenings, so you might end up waiting around or feeling a tad overwhelmed.
  • Service is generally solid but could do with being a smidge clearer on the details, like knowing exactly what's what when you arrive.

Great experience. Was looking for a place to have a Sunday roast with the brothers. Seats were reserved, but they accommodated us nicely. Jackie took our orders for the roast and even made her own desserts, which we had a slice. The roast itself was delicious. Exactly what we were looking for. 3 different meats and a nice Yorkshire pudding with some nice gravy to go along with it. Great style, atmosphere, and a pool table to keep you occupied. Will be back again

We had an over all okay experience at the Plough Inn. If you are visiting for their food which is what we did, please be vigilant as the food menu while we were there was available then not available and then available again. We were lucky as the second we placed our order, the took the menus away. Sadly, we couldn’t order the Goat Burritos “Birria”. Annoyingly while were eating, the food menu/orders became available and the Birria was indeed available! Not ideal right? In addition, the Bang Pork that we were left with ordering I would not order it again or recommend it at all. The second you simply touched the wrap/taco it gets destroyed and the food drops out. It literally rips instantly (see images attached). The wings? OMG! The sole reason I gave 3 stars were due to their wings, everything else was 2 stars at best! We also had the Fried Chicken Poutine but the portion was not enough to share between 2 people which is unfair if you consider it’s £10! The team did try their best to serve all the people and we appreciate that. Due to the food availability being on and off and the Bang Pork being so bad in terms of texture and edible, 3 is the best I can rate this place.

Great pub, excellent atmosphere, can be yourself without judgement. Staff are really friendly, and good at their jobs! Food is excellent, great prices. Sound system sounds great too! Oh, not to forget one of the best outdoor/ smoking areas in Bristol! Can get busy in the evenings. Pretty chill in the daytimes. Shame dogs aren't allowed, but can totally comprehend why this is necessary in this area of Bristol.

Had a fab time here. Went for a Sunday roast. The food and service is straightforward. Feels like a proper hearty and proper Bristol. Lots of veggies and lots of gravy. Service would be a 5 if we’d known what was going on 😆. We arrived on time and took a bit of time to work out who and how to let people know we’d arrived and be shown our table. Once we worked it out the staff were super friendly.
