About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Star Inn – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed day out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are proper gems, always going the extra mile with their warm welcomes and even thinking of the four-legged family members, like bringing out a bowl for the dog. The food is a real highlight; think mouth-watering Sunday dinners and tasty starters that leave you wanting more, all served up in a welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for families or just nipping in for a pint. They've got a smashing beer garden too, ideal for soaking up the sun with a good selection of drinks on offer. On the flip side, it's a bit frustrating that there's no website or online presence to speak of, so you might struggle to check opening times or make plans in advance. Plus, with the current status suggesting it might be closed, it's worth double-checking before you head over, as that could put a dampener on things. All in all, if you're in the Wakefield area and after a solid pub experience with great grub and a friendly crowd, it's definitely worth a go – just keep those potential snags in mind for a smoother visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff at The Star Inn are absolutely lovely and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is spot on, especially their Sunday roasts and starters like garlic mushrooms – it's all delicious and well-presented, with plenty of options to suit different tastes.
-
They've got a fantastic beer garden out back, perfect for enjoying a drink on a sunny day, with space for kids to play and even a welcoming attitude towards dogs.
-
It's a great spot for families or a casual catch-up with mates, offering a wide selection of drinks and a relaxed, welcoming vibe that keeps people coming back.
Cons
-
The business seems to be unclaimed and without a website, which makes it a bit tricky to get the latest info or book ahead – you might end up winging it.
-
Their operating status is listed as closed, which is a shame and could mean some uncertainty about whether it's open when you fancy a visit.
-
With the hours seeming a bit inconsistent in the details, it might not be the most reliable for spontaneous stops, especially if you're hoping for something beyond the typical pub timings.
-
While the reviews are glowing, the overall rating of 4.4 suggests there might be the odd off day or area for improvement that isn't fully captured here.

AMAZING!! all the staff where so polite and friendly I can't say enough about them. went for Sunday dinner at about 3pm on a very nice hot day. the food was absolutely amazing! we'd booked table of 5 + our family dog and they even went above and beyond bringing a small dog bowl out with some dog safe food for Freddie. honestly absolutely blown away by how kind and lovely all the staff where. 1000% recommend going and I know for a fact we'll be going back there a lot. thank you to all the girls that served us. PS prices where very very good.
This is a lovely and well presented establishment with friendly staff.
A nice big beer garden to the rear of the pub on grassed area space for the kids to run around.

Family visit for a Sunday roast. Warm and friendly, staff were really friendly and helpful - would definitely come back. Garlic Mushroom starter was excellent.
The Star Inn is without a doubt the best pub in the area! 🍻 They have a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, the staff and owners are super friendly, and the food is top-notch. It's a great place for a family dinner or a quick beer with friends. #Cheers #GoodTimes #LocalLove
