About This Pub

Ah, The Red Lion – it's one of those classic pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this genuine, friendly atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, which is always a winner for a good night out. The traditional setup with real ales and events like karaoke and live music really brings people together, and the Sunday lunch sounds like a treat with its fresh ingredients and homely touches. On the flip side, it's clear the place hasn't had a spruce-up in years, so if you're after something a bit more contemporary, it might not hit the mark. Still, for a straightforward, no-fuss spot to catch up with mates or enjoy a quick bevvy, it's got plenty going for it – I'd say it's worth popping in for a pint and seeing what all the fuss is about.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff and landlord are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's got that lovely traditional 'olde worldy' charm with real ale on tap, which adds to the authentic pub experience.
  • They host fun events like karaoke and live music, plus the Sunday lunch is spot on with fresh veggies and homemade Yorkshire puds.
  • It's a great spot for a casual meet-up or a quick pint after work, especially on busy Fridays when the atmosphere really buzzes.
Cons
  • The decor hasn't seen a refresh in what feels like ages, which might come across as a bit dated for those after something more modern.
  • It seems best suited for a short visit rather than a full evening out, as one mate mentioned it's more of a pit-stop kind of place.

A great little road side pub. Usually busy on a friday with workers going for the odd drink afterwork. And then followed by a karaoke most fridays. Staff and landlord very friendly a great meeting place.

Very 'olde wordly' with two real ale hand pumps. Hasn't had a make over in the last 30 years but adds to the ambiance of the place. Would only recommend for a quick pit-stop
