About This Pub

Ah, the Hare and Hounds – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in Tingley, with its historic charm and that cosy fireplace drawing you in right away. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks are raving about the food; think fresh, mouth-watering pub classics and Sunday roasts that hit the spot without breaking the bank, all served up in a welcoming space that's perfect for a catch-up with friends or a family outing. The beer garden is a real highlight, massive with those handy pods and gorgeous views, ideal for soaking up the sun or enjoying live music on the weekends – and it's great that it's dog-friendly too, so you can bring the furry ones along. The staff really shine through in the reviews; they're described as dedicated and full of personality, which makes the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable. On the flip side, it's not without its little niggles – service might drag a bit when things get busy, as one reviewer noted, and there's a gentle nudge for more variety in the hot drinks, like decaf options, to suit all tastes. Overall, though, with such high ratings and a solid lineup of events and drinks, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for an authentic pub day out in Yorkshire – I'd say give it a go, and you'll likely leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – fresh, home-cooked pub grub like their roast dinners and Sunday lunches that leave you wanting more, all at great value for a moderate price.
  • The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, with a rustic charm, a cosy fireplace, and a huge beer garden complete with pods and stunning countryside views, perfect for chilling out or enjoying live music on Friday and Sunday nights.
  • Staff and owners are top-notch – they're passionate, friendly, and full of personality, making every visit feel like catching up with mates.
  • It's dog-friendly and has a wide range of drinks, from local ales to fine wines and soft options, so there's something for everyone, whether you're popping in for a pint or a full meal.
  • Loads of events and outdoor seating make it a brilliant spot for groups, families, or just a relaxed day out, and it's open every day from midday till late.
Cons
  • Service can be a tad slow when it's busy, as one chap mentioned after waiting a bit on a packed day – still, it's understandable with the crowds.
  • They might want to add a few more options for hot drinks, like decaf, to cater to everyone, as it's a small thing that could make the experience even better for some.

We absolutely love this pub, the owners are second to none and extemely passionate about appeasing their customers, staff are dedicated, hard working and full of personality and the food is really good. Live music Friday & Sunday nights from 5pm, wonderful ski bar (with plenty of seating) and amazingly large beer garden with picturesque views, an amazing spot to watch the sun go down. I would just say to all the previous review(s)(ers), the pub is popular and staff are only human, during busy periods there may be a little lack of communication or a wait for food but in the right setting and for good food, unfortunately sometimes we need to wait and forgive the inevitable technicalities occasionally. Go easy on this hidden village gem as it’s evident from a customers perspective the owners & staff are doing everything humanly possible to make the experience as good as they can. Also had a very long wait for food without communication but it always turns up which I’d sooner stomach than have a lesser quality rushed out to me. Keep up the good work team H&H

Stopped off for food on the way home from Manchester and pleased we did. Looks like a small little pub from the outside but very deceiving as the garden is huge. The food was some of the best pub food I’ve had in a very long time too, freshly made and home cooked 🤤

We had a fabulous Mothers Day lunch, in one of their garden pods. It was like having our own private party! The food was delicious, the service was so friendly, and the countryside views were lovely. Would definitely recommend. Just one small thing, please offer decaf hot drinks 😊

Lived near the pub 20 years and today when visiting I popped in. Didn't disappoint. Massive outdoor seating available with wonderful views. Service a little slow but it was busy. Won't wait 20 tears to return!
