About This Pub

Ah, The Royal in Low Moor is one of those pubs that really hits the spot for a proper get-together. I've heard from folks who've been that the food is just brilliant – think fresh, locally sourced ingredients in dishes like their famous Royal Pie or a cracking Sunday roast, all served up piping hot with portions that'll leave you stuffed. The atmosphere is spot on too, with cosy surroundings and a welcoming feel that makes it perfect for catching up with friends or even a family outing, especially with the kids eat free deal. The drink selection is another winner, offering everything from premium draughts to a wide range of wines, so you're spoilt for choice. On the downside, it seems like service can be a tad slow sometimes, with one person mentioning a 40-minute wait, so if you're in a hurry, it might not be ideal. Plus, the car park's a bit tight, and the area around isn't exactly picturesque, but once you're inside, it's all forgotten. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a good meal and a chat, and I'd say it's well worth seeking out for that authentic pub experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with homemade dishes like hearty pies and roasts that are packed with flavour and generous portions.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit feel warm and welcoming, like chatting with old mates.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, including local cask ales, ciders, and wines from around the globe, perfect for a relaxed evening.
  • Plenty of seating both inside and out on the decking, ideal for soaking up the Yorkshire sunshine when it's out.
  • It's family-friendly with perks like kids eating free and straightforward online booking, making it easy to pop in for a meal.
Cons
  • There can be a wait for food at times, like one instance where it took over 40 minutes, even if it's worth it in the end.
  • The car park is a bit on the small side, so you might struggle to find a spot if it's busy.
  • The surrounding area isn't the most appealing, which might put some off, though the pub itself more than makes up for it.

Lovely friendly gastrobub offering a wide selection of beers and cider. There’s a car park on the front and plenty of seating in and outside. I would definitely visit again and I highly recommend you to visit. They have TVs inside playing the news and as you walk in seating to the right for those that want to eat in.

Took just over 40 minutes for the food to arrive after ordering, no warning of a long wait or acknowledgment that it has been a long time. However, the food was amazing (and was worth the wait!) My steak burger was amazing! Clearly homemade but cooked perfectly with a lovely flavour and texture. Good size, soft and juicy inside, and smothered in melty cheese. The beef brisket on top was also really flavoursome and went perfectly with the burger meat. The bun was also really soft and fresh and didn't fall apart at all. My wife had the royal calzone which was also amazing! Some of the nicest pizza dough I've ever tasted. Filled with good quality 'toppings' and served with a jug of lovely tomato sauce (although it was a bit unexpectedly spicy) We will definitely be back next time we're in the area, and I highly recommend the food here. (Hopefully the long wait for the food was a one off, but it was still worth the wait!) UPDATE 30th April 2025: Came here again and had some more of their amazing food. Still had a really really long wait for the food to arrive but was still worth it!

We found this on google I booked online and it was really easy to book plus they had a place available which we were really happy about .. the food came and it was delicious I'm vegetarian so I order the vegetarian Sunday lunch and it was so nice and really filling . The staff that servered our table where so lovely and really accommodating, I would recommend going here to anyone as it's well worth the money and the staff where lovely !! ☺️

Lovely little pub, the surrounding area isn’t exactly the nicest but the food in this place makes up for it! So nice to have a non chain pub Sunday roast so close by. Definitely worth travelling for too, massive portions and everything was cooked perfectly and piping hot.
