About This Pub

Oh, the Robin Hood Inn – it's one of those hidden gems in the rolling hills near Macclesfield, just perfect for a relaxed afternoon or evening out. From what I've gathered from chats with others, the food really shines with its homecooked specials and a solid lineup of real ales, lagers, and wines that pair brilliantly with the stunning views of the countryside. The beer garden is a absolute delight on a sunny day, and it's fantastic for dog owners since they're made to feel right at home, both indoors and out. If you're planning a stay, the rooms come highly recommended for their comfort and value, with hosts like Karen adding that personal touch that makes you want to linger. But, to keep it real, there are a few niggles; service can slow down when things get hectic, and I've heard tales of it feeling a bit cliquey for visitors who aren't locals, which might put a dampener on things. All in all, it's a lovely spot for enjoying the best of rural Cheshire, especially if you're up for a bit of exploring in the Peak District – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty homecooked meals and a cracking selection of real ales that hit the spot after a long walk.
  • It's super dog-friendly, with pups welcome both inside and in the lovely beer garden, making it a top choice for those countryside rambles with your four-legged mate.
  • The views are stunning, especially from the decked beer garden overlooking Kerridge Ridge, and they've got fires lit in winter to keep things cosy.
  • If you're stopping over, the rooms sound like a treat – comfortable, great value, and with friendly hosts like Karen making you feel right at home.
  • It's got that classic country pub charm, with ample parking and free Wi-Fi, plus it's in a beautiful spot near the Peak District for a proper escape.
Cons
  • Service can drag a bit when it's busy, like on a sunny day, which might leave you waiting longer than you'd hope for your grub.
  • The atmosphere isn't always welcoming for newcomers; some have mentioned locals staring, which could make first-timers feel a tad out of place.
  • There might be a few inconsistencies with the vibe or experiences, as not every visit feels as warm and inviting as you'd expect.

Stayed overnight at the Robin Hood. The room was outstanding, comfortable, and great value. Karen is a great host, and the pub is amazing - food, beer, and staff all great. Dog friendly bar too!

After driving 8 hours from northern Scotland, my partner and I were looking forward to a nice pub dinner and our room. However on arrival, the atmosphere was uncomfortable as folk kept staring at us non locals and that was before it really started going down hill. After waiting 15 minutes at the table we reserved (after not being given a time to book, either 1900 or nothing) we had to go find our own menu's. This is ofcourse fine, but it would be handy to have been informed if it is or isn't table service. We ordered a pie and a salmon dish. The chips and pie were cold and chips still frozen. The salmon however was completely raw, it had some evidence of being exposed to heat, but once the surface was broken. It was freezing and very raw. We returned the meals and got back a equally raw burger. After this we gave up and just went to our room. The room was completely fine and quite comfortable, served its purpose. Particularly the bathroom as we had to be up all night visiting it with suspected food poisoning. A poor night's sleep didn't not allow us to prepare well for our holiday to Italy the next day. Sleep here by all means, but stick the the cold raw starters that they can just open from a packet and that does not require any cooking.

A lovely end to a beautiful walk from one village to another, the waterfalls were simply worth the visit to see them and would recommend you walk to Rainow across the fields.

Great dog friendly pub with large sunny outdoor area and dogs allowed inside also. Food was tasty but service a little slow, although it was a busy sunny day. Salmon was well cooked and burger beautifully seasoned.

Really friendly pub, extremely dog friendly and there’s some uke folk music in the next room. I’m stopping in the cottage, and failed to bring dog food with me, and the chef has kindly whipped up a doggy dinner for Teddy. Lovely place, would definitely stop by again!
