About This Pub
Ah, the Dog & Partridge – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away in Bollington with all the charm of a 1700s coaching inn. I have to say, from what I've gathered, it's got that inviting, cosy feel with separate rooms for different moods, whether you're up for a game of pool, chatting by the fire, or just unwinding in a quiet corner. The staff come across as genuinely friendly, always ready with a smile and a good recommendation on the beers, which is a real plus for anyone who appreciates a solid pint. It's brilliant for families or if you're out with the dog, and that beer garden sounds like a winner on a sunny day. On the flip side, though, it does start serving a bit late most days, so if you're fancying an early tipple, you might be out of luck. And while the food gets high praise when it's mentioned, it might not always be the main draw, so perhaps plan ahead if you're after a bite. All in all, it's a welcoming spot that does the traditional pub thing really well, but with a few quirks that keep it real – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely lovely and welcoming, with cosy rooms and a real log fire that makes you feel right at home on a chilly evening.
-
They've got a cracking selection of beers, wines, and spirits, including at least three cask ales that are always spot on.
-
It's super dog-friendly and family-friendly, so you can pop in with the whole gang, including your furry mate, and enjoy the vibe.
-
The beer garden is a real sun trap in the summer – perfect for a relaxed pint outdoors after a good walk nearby.
-
Friendly staff who make you feel like a regular from the first visit, and there's plenty to do like pool, darts, or just chilling with a book.
Cons
-
It opens a bit late in the day on most weekdays, starting at 3 PM, so it's not ideal if you're after a midday drink or lunch.
-
Parking is limited with just a small car park, and you might end up walking from the town centre if it's busy.
-
While the reviews rave about the food, not everyone mentions trying it, so it could be hit or miss depending on what's on offer that day.

Didn't try the food. Typical cosy country pub. Nice features. Very friendly staff and good range of beers etc
Ace pub, cosy and welcoming with a lovely fire going in the grate in winter and v nice atmosphere whatever the season
Out of curiosity, I read the old reviews because I was surprised that's not everybody gave it five stars for everything. It is the only pub I have ever bitten in that has continuity in cleanliness, friendliness of staff and more than anything consistently. Brilliant food. For the area, the prices are pretty much in line for the quality of food you get, which is always a high standard. And trust me my fussy mother doesn't mess around with her compliments on food. And she has never had a bad meal in 3 years. It is always cosy and the regulars are really nice. Because it's dog friendly. It means you can relax when you are out of the house. Enjoying the meal with your dog at your side. It is also a lot bigger than I thought because it goes round the side of the building too. It has a nice large outdoor section. Not a huge. But big enough to enjoy the sun or stay in the shade. if you want to go somewhere and not be disappointed by the food, definitely go there 💖 although the staff always seems to have a lot to do, they will get to you and the service will be good
A lovely little pub that let me vape indoors
We called here whilst on our narrow boat…. Great family run pub , friendly with all the little added extras…. Clean and warm and inviting. Great fun with lots of visitors. Good music. Definitely worth a visit. Peter and Poe.
