About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Red Lion, it's got that lovely old-school country pub feel that's just right for a casual get-together or a special occasion. The food really stands out – it's all freshly made with seasonal, local produce, and the portions are generous without breaking the bank, which is always a win. Plus, with options for vegans and vegetarians, and a cracking selection of real ales, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back. The outdoor areas, like the courtyard and beer garden, are brilliant on a sunny day, and they've got a real community spirit with events and music that make it feel alive. On the downside, though, I've heard a few tales of service not quite hitting the mark, with waits that drag on longer than you'd hope, and the odd visit where the food didn't quite live up to expectations. Still, with such a strong overall rating, it's worth giving it a go if you're nearby – just maybe pop in when it's not too hectic to make the most of it.

Always a beautiful spot for lunch. Love sitting outside in the summer.
Nice big portions from an extensive menu, very reasonably priced.

Went there today for my partners 50th Birthday meal.such a lovely cosy place.service was excellent and the food was excellent. Will definitely be going back there..
We went for lunch , we are quite local so no need to stay
A previous visit had been a great pleasure, so I visited again with different friends
It was Such a.disappointment.
Food was average, reasonable prices, but much worse that the previous visit
The service was frankly poor. We waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive, 3 main courses only, and the barman/landlord was very slow, doing only one thing at a time very carefully ignoring other people around.
Maybe it’s better in the evening,or just pop in for a drink.
The cafe down the road is excellent…
