About This Pub

Oh, what a gem The Plough is – it's got this idyllic countryside setting that just draws you in, with a garden offering some of the best views in Hertfordshire, ideal for whiling away an afternoon with mates. The team there are absolute stars, always greeting you with a smile and making sure everything's just right, from the drinks served at the perfect temperature to that community spirit that's so heart-warming. It's spot on for families or if you're out with the dog, adding to the relaxed, country vibe. On the flip side, they're not quite up and running with their full food plans yet, so you might have to make do with snacks or wait for one of those pop-up events if you're peckish. Still, it's a lovely spot that's all about good times and simple pleasures, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The stunning countryside views and fabulous garden make it an absolute treat for a relaxing pint outdoors.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, giving it that warm, homely feel you crave in a good pub.
  • It's wonderfully dog-friendly, so you can pop in with your four-legged mate after a country walk.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks at really reasonable prices, perfect for a casual catch-up.
  • There's a strong community vibe here, especially since it's a local freehouse that's been saved for everyone to enjoy.
Cons
  • Food options are a bit limited at the moment, with only occasional pop-ups rather than a full menu, so it might not satisfy if you're after a hearty meal.
  • Opening hours can start a tad late on some days, like not until 4pm on Mondays, which could be a nuisance if you're an early riser.

Lovely friendly pub, fantastic views across the countryside. They don't have a daily food menu, but when they have the pizza/burger pop-up tents, the food is excellent quality and good value. It is well worth a visit.

Great little village pub with a large patio and garden area out the back. Recently rejuvenated under new ownership and management. Great views over the local countryside. Good selection of beers, drinks and snacks. Great atmosphere with a real community feel! 👍

This newly restored pub is a good stop for walkers, with & without dogs, cyclists and horse riders. We walked here, sat outside under cover because we were quite warm. The bench parasol hole is a great walking stick/pole holder. There's a boot cleaning box so you don't make the place muddy🙂.
