About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Red Lion – it's one of those pubs that just wraps you up in its charm from the moment you step inside. I love how it's packed with history, making every visit feel like a step back in time, and the cosy coal fire adds that extra layer of homeliness, especially on a chilly evening. The beer selection is spot on, and the staff are an absolute delight; they're so polite and upbeat, it really sets the tone for a great night out. If you're thinking of staying over, the rooms are surprisingly spacious and clean, with nice little extras like cereal and a coffee machine that show they've put thought into making guests comfortable. Plus, the outdoor seating is brilliant for soaking up the sun. On the flip side, it's a shame there's no website to make planning easier, and without clear operating hours, you might end up playing it by ear. Still, for a solid, welcoming spot in Dalton, it's well worth seeking out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh any minor niggles.

Our car broke down so we were unable to stay. The owners have very graciously allowed us to refund or move our booking though it is non refundable. Much appreciated 👏

Red Lion is an amazing and traditional English pub. You have about 8 rooms located on top of the bar and the room I was given was absolutely fantastic. The receptionist was clear and really helpful, he explained and showed everything that was needed. The location in itself was amazing, would definitely recommend.
