About This Pub

Ah, Farmers Arms – it's one of those unassuming village pubs that you stumble upon and end up enjoying more than you expected. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the beer is where it truly shines; people are going on about how it's served in top form, like that Loweswater Gold that's apparently a standout. The landlord gets a big thumbs-up too, with reviewers mentioning a genuinely warm welcome that makes you feel right at home. It's got that classic pub charm, ideal for a laid-back evening with mates or a quiet drink in a friendly setting. On the flip side, it's a shame there's no food on offer, so if you're hoping for a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere first. And while most feedback is positive, that one review about the cider being subpar and some dodgy comments on drink driving is a bit of a downer – it's important to remember to stay safe and responsible. Overall, with a solid 4.2 rating, it's worth a visit if you're in the area, especially for the beer, but keep those cons in mind for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer is absolutely spot on – folks rave about the well-kept pints like Loweswater Gold, making it a real treat for ale enthusiasts.
  • You'll get a warm and friendly welcome from the landlord, which really adds to that cosy village pub feel.
  • It's a proper local spot with a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up over a pint.
Cons
  • No food available on site, which could leave you a bit peckish if you're after a bite with your drink.
  • Some have mentioned the cider isn't up to scratch, so it might not be the best choice if that's your go-to.
  • There's a concerning mention in one review about back roads and drink driving, which is a serious issue – always best to plan a safe way home.

It was given 1 star as it has back roads for drink drivers... Great pub for drink driving home on the back roads. With local connections in Barrow police mean you dont get pulled. If you like cider you will get one of the worst pints of cider in the area.
