About This Pub
Ah, The Queens Arms – it's one of those pubs that really captures the heart of a good old British local. I've got to say, stepping inside feels like a proper welcome back to simpler times, with its friendly staff and that cosy traditional setup. The real ales are spot on, and if you're up for a bit of fun, the Saturday nights with live music or karaoke are an absolute treat – I can imagine belting out a tune with mates over a pint. Plus, it's brilliant that they welcome dogs and families, and the beer garden is a lovely spot for a sunny afternoon chat. On the flip side, though, I've heard a couple of stories about not everyone being as welcoming as the landlords promise, which might make you think twice if you're new to the area or just want a hassle-free night. And while the place is inexpensive and open most days, it does feel like they could mix things up a bit more during the week to keep the energy going. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a lively gathering, but like any spot, it's worth going in with realistic expectations to enjoy the best of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is wonderfully traditional and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of real ales and live entertainment like music, DJ nights, or karaoke on Saturdays – perfect for a lively evening out.
-
It's super dog-friendly and welcomes children, plus there's a lovely beer garden for enjoying a pint outdoors when the weather's nice.
-
The pub has great facilities like a dartboard, TNT Sports, and free Wi-Fi, so there's always something to do while you sip your drink.
Cons
-
There have been a few instances where some folks weren't as friendly as you'd hope, which could put a damper on your visit if you're not in the right crowd.
-
The website seems a bit repetitive and outdated, so it might not give you the full picture before you head over.
-
Opening times are fairly standard, but it's a shame they don't have more varied events throughout the week to keep things buzzing every day.

Lovely to see the fireplace built many years ago by my Dad, Peter Collins of Old Charm Fireplaces. He is 87 now and retired in Norfolk.
Came from Birmingham with my partner to meet new friends who live local to the Arms. Got to the pub around 4pm-ish and was looking for said friends to be asked by patrons of the pub (in a not very friendly way) if I was looking for the toilets and that if I wanted to use the toilets I would need to buy a drink. We found the group of people we were meeting, sat down and was making introductions when the bar man Paul shouted at us from behind the bar asking why do you go to work. We thought it was a joke, and asked why, to be given a lecture that you go to work for money and that it was his job and he got money by serving people and that we had sat for too long (15 minutes) without buying a drink. Our other 3 friends who were already there had bought several rounds of drinks before we got there. We fully intended to stay there for the whole night and buy plenty of drinks between the 5 of us, but after one drink we were done as we weren't going to give him any more of our money, that he so desperately wanted. One of our friends (from Essex) went up to get herself another drink and had to wait as the bar man wasn't even behind the bar.
Such rudeness which wasn't needed. Won't go there again.
Really good place with a fantastic land lady..Highly recommend.. ☆☆☆☆☆
Great pub with a good selection of real ales and a warm welcome. Anytime I'm down south I'll always try and visit.
Lovely friendly place to socialize and be with friends enjoying a few drinks. The owners and staff are fantastic and make the pub a great place to come to. They have music every 2nd Saturday to suit everyone. Defiantly worth a visit.
