About This Pub
Ah, The Queen of Iceni – it's one of those classic Wetherspoons spots that you can't help but appreciate for its no-fuss approach to a good night out. I really enjoy how it's got this spacious, modern feel with loads of room to spread out, whether you're grabbing a table indoors, soaking up the fresh air outside, or heading upstairs for a quieter corner. The evenings are a highlight for me, with those fun disco lights and catchy tunes that get everyone in the mood for a chat and a laugh. Plus, being so close to the station makes it a brilliant first stop if you're visiting Norwich, and the prices are just spot on for keeping things affordable without skimping on options. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few tales of service that could use a bit of a boost – some staff seem a tad miserable or slow, which can turn a quick visit into a bit of a wait. And let's be honest, the food isn't always up to scratch; you might end up with smaller portions or dishes that are a bit dry, and keeping the place tidy doesn't seem to be their strongest suit. All in all, it's a decent pub for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with mates, but I'd say it's best to go in with realistic expectations and maybe skip the food if you're in a rush. If you're after that reliable Wetherspoons charm with a Norwich twist, it's worth a try, but keep an eye out for those little niggles that could make or break your evening.
Pros and Cons

It's a spacious and modern Wetherspoons with plenty of seating inside, outside, and even upstairs, making it easy to find a spot for a group.
-
The location is spot on – just a short walk from the station and near the Waterfront Club, perfect for a quick stop after arriving or before heading out.
-
Evenings bring a fun vibe with disco lights and tunes, which really livens things up and makes for a cheerful atmosphere.
-
You get great value for your money with inexpensive prices, so it's ideal for a casual pint or a bite without breaking the bank.
-
The layout is smooth and welcoming, with comfortable seating and a well-presented bar that adds to the overall experience.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit or miss, with some reports of staff seeming uninterested or taking their time, which might leave you waiting longer than you'd like.
-
Food quality has had its ups and downs; portions can be smaller than expected, and things like dry rice or beef in curries might not hit the spot.
-
Cleanliness is an issue at times, with dirty tables and less-than-ideal handling of messes, which can put a damper on the visit.
-
There are occasional long waits for food, sometimes over 30 minutes, which isn't ideal if you're popping in for a quick meal.
-
It doesn't always live up to expectations, as some have noticed changes like smaller portions or a general dip in standards compared to before.

Queen of Iceni, what happend to you? Dirty tables, long wait for food, taste not the same and smaller portions. Menu says 8 scampis and 7 turned up, very small portion of chips. The rice for curry was very dry and the beef for the curry was very dry to top. And we waited over 30 minutes for this!! 👎
Amazing! Great food, the best ever and top of the range beers. Whoops, was thinking of another place I went. Last time we went here some girl puked all over the floor next to the bar and a young lad came out and smeared it around a bit with an old mop. Still, you get what you pay for, a round for 4 for less than 15 quid is pretty okay if it's a nice day and you're sitting with mates near the river.
This was a brilliant pub to visit, with a smooth layout where the windows continue right along the sides! The disco setting from the evenings onwards is much to be appreciated, combining tunes with blue and pink lights. Counter is well-presented and seating is comfortable, I enjoyed an Angelo Poretti. Went another morning for breakfast and the Miner's Benedict was a tasty option with orange juice, cleanliness was consistent across both my visits here too!
Lovely modern Wetherspoons and opposite the Waterfront Club we were at on 19th March 2025. Sadly let down by miserable staff who seem like they are doing you a favour by serving you and also slow with it on table service. Will visit again when next in Norwich, but this place needs a real shake-up..!
Large wetherspoons a fairly short walk from the station, with loads of inside and out and also upstairs. Would definitely make it my first port of call next time I'm in Norwich.
