About This Pub
You know, I really think the Compleat Angler in Norwich is one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a good night out. It's got this lovely spot right by the river, so you can sit outside with a cold beer and soak in the views – it's especially nice on a sunny day. The food is proper pub grub done well; I've heard brilliant things about the starters and pies, and from what folks say, it's all tasty and well-priced. Plus, if you're into sports, they've got the big screens showing all the action, from Premier League footy to rugby tours, which makes it a fun place to gather with mates. On the flip side, it does get packed during events, and there might be a wee hiccup with service now and then, but the team there are so approachable and sort things out straight away. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a relaxed vibe with good company and a bit of excitement – I'd definitely pop in again for another go.
Pros and Cons
Pros

-
The food and drink selection is spot on – from tasty starters to hearty mains like steak and ale pie, and a lovely Merlot to wash it down.
-

-
It's a brilliant spot for live sports, with Sky Sports and TNT screens showing everything from football to rugby, making it ideal for a match day.
Cons
-
It can get a bit chaotic during busy times, like big games, which might lead to the odd mix-up with orders, though they're quick to fix it.
-
With its popularity, finding a seat might be tricky on peak evenings, so it's worth planning ahead if you're after a relaxed visit.

Excellent pub, well located by the river and with wide range drink and food selection.
Top rated sports pub, with pretty much most sports you’d imagine.
A first rated Norwich City home pub, if you’re not able to get tickets.
Parking nearby, with the station just across the road.
Seating outside overlooking the river, across 2 floors.
Would recommend, although perhaps not for a fancy meal of date.
Really nice food. Had three of the starters instead of a meal and all 3 were very tasty. They also serve a really nice Merlot. There was a mix up initially with our food going to the wrong table, but the staff were great and sorted it out and looked after us, all of them were very friendly. Would definitely eat there again - don't let the outside appearance put you off.
Came here for a few drinks and some food before going out later on, great place to go just for a quick drink. I found the food to be great especially for a pub and service was great alongside it. I also wanted to point out service in particular from Leanne as she made sure we were completely taken care of and happy with our food.
Getting bit of a habit, as not had a bad meal, very tasty 😋 highly recommend, staff so friendly and helpful
partner loves the squid, cooked to perfection, with side order of sweet potato fries
for me, today, good old steak and ale pie.
Great place to have a quick beer before the train. Had a few footy games on TV while we were there. Reasonably priced for the area, and great service.
Very friendly staff, well worth a visit if you just arrived on the train to Norwich
