About This Pub
Ah, The Queen Adelaide – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a second home, you know? From what I've gathered, it's all about that genuine community spirit, with a warm welcome that makes you feel like you're among friends right from the off. The drinks are a real highlight; they've got this fantastic range of quality beers and ales that are spot on for a proper pub experience, and it's nice to see they cater to non-drinkers too. Pair that with some tasty homemade pizzas and burgers, and you've got a solid spot for a bite. The staff come across as genuinely lovely, always up for a chat, and it's brilliant for events – whether it's live entertainment that gets the place buzzing or sorting out something more poignant like a wake, they handle it with care. On the flip side, the hours are a bit on the late side, so if you're an early bird, you might miss out. And while it's charmingly traditional, it doesn't go all out for the latest trends, which might not suit everyone. All in all, it's a gem for a relaxed night out, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and enjoy the vibe!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot-on – it's a proper traditional pub that's warm and welcoming, perfect for catching up with mates or enjoying a quiet pint.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, including top-notch real ales and lagers, plus plenty of non-alcoholic options, all served with that Cask Marque accreditation you can trust.
-
The food sounds brilliant from what folks say – homemade pizzas and burgers that smell and taste delicious, and it's got a 5-star food hygiene rating to boot.
-
Staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a drink or hosting something special like a wake.
-
It's got a lovely beer garden that's a sun trap, ideal for a summer evening, and it's great for events with live entertainment that really gets the crowd going.
Cons
-
Opening hours can be a bit limited, typically starting around 3 PM, so it's not the best for a lazy lunch or early meet-up.
-
As it's a traditional village pub, it might not have the latest trends or a huge variety of fancy cocktails, which could disappoint if you're after something more modern.
-
Being out in Kingsthorpe, it might feel a tad out of the way if you're not local, though that's part of its charm for a quiet spot away from the hustle.

Didn't eat. Great pub and the entertainment was fabulous. Jordan was brilliant and Jodie and Grace were absolutely fantastic. I have seen and heard them all before and they are all great entertainers. Well worth seeing
Can't comment on the food as I only popped in for a couple of drinks but I really enjoyed my time there.
I spent most of the time in the beer garden and this was a sun trap! Had a lager to start but realised they had a really good selection of real ales, unusually no mainstream ones and all beers I'd never seen before.
We know the Queen Adelaide well and when we needed a venue for a wake it seemed like a perfect choice. It didn't disappoint. Sharon and the team put on a great buffet, including cakes, mini pies and fresh fruit and many other items. There was also a lovely tea and coffee station. Sharon and Georgia were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend the Adelaide for a wake or any celebration.
In old Kingsthorpe village. A lovely traditional cosy old pub with a large beer garden. Friendly staff, a darts team and delicious smelling pizza and burgers on the menu.
Recently had a 'wake' or funeral 'celebration' in the Adelaide. When I went in to organise it Katy led me through the whole process - at a time when I could not really focus on much. She covered all of the things that needed thinking about. They offer a cold buffet or warm one. They opened the pub - when it would normally be closed to the public - which meant we also had the whole of the pub and the pub car park. They had a screen to play a tribute slideshow. Plus, they decorated the pub with the bits that I took round the night before. It was just the right size for the 60 guests. The staff served drinks quickly and were very friendly. I highly recommend the pub for this sort of event.
