About This Pub
Ah, the Cock Inn – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper community hub in Northampton, where you can nip in for a quick drink or settle in for some decent food. I have to say, what they do well is create that cosy atmosphere; it's warm and inviting, with a well-stocked bar that caters to all tastes, whether you're after a crisp lager or a cheeky cocktail. The menu hits the spot with classic pub fare that's generally tasty and good value, and perks like the outdoor garden and being dog-friendly make it a great choice for casual get-togethers or family outings. On the flip side, though, it's not all roses – I've heard a few tales of staff who can be a bit moody, which takes the shine off, and the food doesn't always feel as fresh as it could, with some opting for frozen bits that aren't everyone's cup of tea. Plus, if you're fussy about your drinks, like getting that perfect pint, you might be disappointed now and then. All in all, it's a reliable spot for a relaxed evening, but it'd be even better with a bit more consistency in service and quality – worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a good time.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a lovely spot to pop in for a pint or a meal with mates.
-
They've got a brilliant selection of drinks, from smooth draught lagers and craft beers to wines and cocktails, so there's something for everyone.
-
The food is generally spot on, with pub classics that offer great value and tasty options like amazing fish and chips – perfect for a hearty lunch.
-
It's family-friendly with events on offer, plus they have a nice pub garden for enjoying the outdoors and even welcome dogs, which is ace for us animal lovers.
-
Ample free parking and disabled access make it easy to get to, and some staff members are really friendly and attentive, adding to the homely feel.
Cons
-
A few staff members can come across as a bit grumpy, which might spoil the mood if you're after cheerful service.
-
The food isn't always as fresh as you'd hope, with some comments about frozen or fried options that don't quite hit the mark for a proper meal.
-
Drink quality can be hit or miss, like the Guinness not tasting quite right, so it might not live up to expectations every time.
-
It can feel a tad quiet on certain evenings, and service isn't always consistent, leading to mixed experiences overall.

Dropped in for a pint after golf, for a Friday evenitit was not busy apart from drinkers, dart players, fruit machine. Would be a great good fresh food venue, not the frozen food fried food
Quality food, waitress who served us the food was fantastic, grumpy old bar bloke couldn't be any more miserable, don't like your job then jog on, hence the 2 star service.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, staff friendly and attentive. However, I asked if the Guinness was original Guinness and told it was but it tasted more like draft Guinness which is smoother and I'm not so keen. My wife wanted a hot drink but all that was on offer and being advertised was coffee but my wife doesn't drink coffee. Overall a pleasant and enjoyable experience but we would have perhaps stayed longer and ordered more drinks if the Cock Inn had what we wanted on this occasion.
Had another wonderful experience here, their food is always amazing. I even bring my friends here to try their chips... a special thanks to Ryan and Sam in the kitchen you make this pub into a happy place for me and my belly! Absolutely love it, the gentleman at the bar is always lovely too. Hope for many more years of coming here as a regular due to the business thriving from your clearly great efforts.
Really good food , great value for money ,fish and chips were amazing ,the chef Sam is very friendly and helpful ,would 100% recommend.
