About This Pub
Oh, The Quayside in Newcastle is one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its prime spot right by the river – imagine settling in with a chilled pint, soaking up the views of that historic High Level Bridge on a sunny afternoon; it's just uplifting, isn't it? The prices are spot on, making it a go-to for a relaxed meal or drinks without spending a fortune, and I've heard from quite a few that the staff can be lovely and welcoming, adding to that homely feel. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; service can be a mixed bag, with some staff looking a bit down in the dumps, and the layout's a tad squished, making it feel like you're sitting on top of everyone else. Plus, there have been grumbles about long waits for orders or even getting them wrong, and the food, especially breakfast, hasn't always hit the mark for everyone. Still, with such a solid overall rating, it's worth giving it a try if you're nearby – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a good time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The location by the river is absolutely brilliant, especially for a sunny day pint with stunning views of the High Level Bridge.
-
Prices are always fair and wallet-friendly, true to what you'd expect from a Wetherspoon – great for a casual outing without breaking the bank.
-
Staff can be really friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome whether you're popping in for breakfast, lunch, or just a drink.
-
It's a cosy spot that's perfect for any time of day, with a welcoming vibe for meals or simply relaxing with mates.
Cons
-
Service isn't always spot on; some staff seem a bit miserable, which can put a damper on the experience.
-
The layout feels cramped and awkward, with tables too close together and even the toilets being a bit of a trek.
-
There can be long waits for drinks, and occasionally orders get mixed up, which is frustrating when you're in the mood for a quick one.
-
Food quality varies, and breakfast items have been disappointing for a few folks, not quite living up to the hype.

Really nice place, close to River, Excellent customer Service, and or course Wetherspoon always fair prices.
Definitely the best Wetherspoon I've ever been! Sitting outside by the river on a sunny day.. taking in the view of the magnificent High Level Bridge a stunning piece of engineering over a hundred years old.. with a well-chilled pint in hand is just somehow uplifting..
One of the worst spoons I've ever been to!!!!
Staff all looked miserable! And when I seen the manager it was clear why
She looked most miserable of them all!!!!
The layout of the pub is awful. Everyone is sat on top of everyone and the ladies toilets are in narnia!!!!
Our breakfast items were awful
Eggs on the mushroom benedict weren't poached, totally over cooked
And the muffin was stone cold
Extremely disappointing
Visited here many times now.
Always nice and welcoming to visitors.
Lovely cosy place to go for breakfast, lunch, evening meal or just for drinks.
Really friendly and helpful staff here. I managed to find a table on a Saturday night and use the app to order. Drinks were taking over 15 minutes to come out, which is fairly understandable for how busy they were.
They got my first drink wrong, but I couldn't be bothered making an issue out of it as it was luckily something I don't normally mind drinking. Kept it quiet and ordered again to get the right one second time round.
