About This Pub
Ah, Colonel Porter's Emporium – what a delightful spot it is in the bustling streets of Newcastle. From what I've gathered chatting about it with folks, it's got this wonderfully eccentric feel with its botanical garden setup and live tunes that really get the energy flowing. The staff are an absolute treat, always on hand with a smile and spot-on recommendations for drinks that leave you wanting more. It's ideal for everything from a relaxed Sunday evening catch-up to a full-on night of entertainment, and the overall buzz makes it a go-to for good times. On the flip side, though, the hours can be a tad unpredictable, and if you're keen on grabbing some scran late, you might be out of luck since they wrap up food service fairly early. Plus, being in such a lively area, it does fill up quickly, so planning ahead is a smart move if you don't fancy standing around. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun outing – just take the highs and lows in stride, and you'll have a cracking time.

-
The staff are so friendly and helpful; they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quiet drink or a lively evening.

Cons
-
The operating hours can be a bit confusing with varying times listed, which might leave you scratching your head about when to drop by.
-
While the drinks are fantastic, the food service stops a bit early at 8pm, so if you're after a late-night bite, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
It's in the heart of Newcastle, which means it can get quite busy on weekends, making it tricky to find a seat or enjoy a peaceful chat.

It's only taken me 27 years to find the best pub in Central Newcastle and this one is definitely it ❤️
Should you be lucky enough to find yourself in this, the very best city in England and do not visit this glorious bastion of live entertainment and mint craic you would be, at least in this reviewer's humble opinion, a feckin eeejit.
Nuff said.

A local haunt if we are in town, love this place. Quirky place, friendly table service and lovely cocktails on offer.
Live music too
We were told about this place by my cousin who lives in Newcastle, and it didn't disappoint! We met for a couple of quiet drinks and a catch-up, with live music on a Sunday evening. The place is huge with so much to see and look at! We got served by 2 lovely ladies, then got seated. There were only about 8 people in when us 4 arrived, but the atmosphere was relaxed and chilled. There was a guy singing on a small stage playing an acoustic guitar, he was fantastic! We found out he's the regular Saturday night singer, bloody amazing! As we were sat, the 2 ladies kept coming round taking our drinks orders and bringing them to our table! The place soon filled up! A very homely feeling and somewhere I'll definitely go to again! I didn't get many photos as my phone died, but I highly recommend this place on a Sunday! Can't wait to visit again!
Only had drinks, no food.
Was told about this place for an after dinner drink and live music. Very well decorated and cosy surroundings, bit of a gentleman lounge bar feeling. Great place to finish off the Sunday evening, and the singer on stage, Dave Lynas, was amazing and played quite a catalogue of music. Staff were coming around every so often to take drink orders, so they didn't even have to move. Massive selection of drinks and deals on cocktails too.
Wow, wow, wow!!! This place is just astonishing. My first time visiting here today and I love it. The decor is beautiful with a good combination of lighting, plants and quirky furniture. The staff were lovey and so helpful and I had the most delicious cocktail ever which was a happy ever after. This was followed up by a strong but not forgotten which was delicious also.
I would strongly recommend this place for a good drink and it offers sessions to attend cocktail making classes.
