About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Plough Inn, it just brings a smile – it's one of those cosy country pubs that feels like a proper hidden gem near Warrington. The food really stands out; folks rave about the fresh, hearty dishes made with local ingredients, and from what I've heard, it's spot on for a relaxed meal, whether it's a Sunday roast or something lighter. The team there are an absolute delight, always chatting and making sure everything's just right, which adds to that friendly, homely feel. Plus, with the dog-friendly setup and that lovely garden full of picnic benches, it's perfect for a sunny afternoon catch-up. On the downside, it's a shame they don't serve food on Mondays and Tuesdays, so if you're planning a spontaneous mid-week visit, you might end up just having a drink. And let's be honest, it does get packed on busier days, so booking ahead could save a bit of hassle. All in all, it's a solid choice for a great night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the little niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely brilliant – fresh, homemade with local ingredients, and generous portions that leave you satisfied, like that amazing braised beef or Sunday roasts.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always going above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're with kids or a furry friend.
-
It's wonderfully dog-friendly, both inside and out, making it a top spot for walks followed by a relaxing pint.
-
The garden is a real treat, with plenty of picnic benches for sunny days, creating a charming outdoor vibe.
-
They've got a great selection of drinks, from cask ales and cold Guinness to wines and non-alcoholic options, plus free parking which is a bonus.
Cons
-
Food is only available from Wednesday to Sunday, so if you're after a mid-week meal, you'll have to look elsewhere.
-
It can get quite busy on weekends and special occasions, like Mother's Day, which might mean waits or a more crowded atmosphere.
-
Opening hours vary a bit, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment if plans change.

We went for a drive just to break up the day and ended up here for something to eat....get your self's here for food. Its bloody brilliant.. staff are lovely.. the barman was a gent and the food is the best iv eaten
from any pub in a long time. The Guinness was nice and cold with no tang off it and the price for our starter and main course plus 2 beers came to £67... value for money.. really worth the visit..
Such a lovely place to eat. Haven't been here before, will definitely be coming again. Food was lovely.
Visited on mothers day, so was busy as you'd expect.
Great proper pub grub. Not normally one to order a Sunday roast but got the braised beef and was amazing - huge portion too!
Staff were so attentive, and a lovely blonde lady was so helpful and couldn't do enough for our kids.
Great dog friendly pub. Will be back - good sized beer garden too.
Arrived after a country walk to have a lovely cuppa served with a smile.
Didn't eat but saw others and the food looked good.
Sunny areas to sit outside with your dog
Amazing pub highly recommend! The staff were so welcoming, kind and accommodating and worked their hardest to give amazing service going above and beyond. The food was really tasty with great portion sizes. Lovely atmosphere and great that it's dog friendly both inside and out. So worth a visit. Thank you
