About This Pub

You know, when I think about the Plough in Warrington, it's got that classic pub charm that's just so inviting – picture settling in for a good chat over a pint and some flame-grilled grub. The staff really stand out; they're cheerful and attentive, making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds to the homely feel. The food's a highlight too – I loved the roasts and sharing platters, and at these prices, it's brilliant value without breaking the bank. Plus, if you're into sports, they've got the likes of the Women's Euros and rugby tours on the telly, creating that electric atmosphere we all crave on match days. On the flip side, it's not without its downsides; the decor could use a bit of a spruce-up, as it feels a tad worn, and I've heard a few grumbles about things like cobwebs in the toilets or the occasional dry burger that doesn't quite live up to expectations. Service is mostly spot-on, but there might be a wait for drinks now and then. All things considered, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening with mates – just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is generally spot on – think juicy roasts and tasty sharing platters that offer great value for a relaxed meal.
  • It's a brilliant spot for catching live sports like the Women's Euros or rugby tours, with a cosy atmosphere that gets everyone buzzing.
  • Family-friendly vibes with handy facilities like a car park, outdoor seating, and options for all ages to enjoy.
Cons
  • The decor feels a bit outdated and could do with a freshen-up to make the place feel more modern.
  • Cleanliness isn't always top-notch, with some reports of cobwebs in the toilets that might spoil the experience.
  • Service can have the odd hiccup, like waiting for drinks or a burger turning out a tad dry when you'd expect it to be perfect.
  • It's not the most cutting-edge spot overall, so if you're after something ultra-trendy, it might not quite hit the mark.

Nice place, decor could do with updating and cleanliness in the toilets, cobwebs in the corners, didn't realise Halloween was so soon. Food was good, sharing platter tasty. Burger a bit dry. Bring back the challenge menu

Was in this delightful pub the other day and was served by a young lady called Samantha. Possibly the best service I’ve ever had, she was so happy and polite, walked around with a smile on her face, can really tell she cares about the customers she serves. Everything I asked she had the perfect answer for she has great knowledge of everything on that menu! Overall great food, great service and a great pub, will be back.

Visited today and was very impressed with the food quality, presentation, and flavor—it was outstanding! However, I’m giving it 4 stars because although the food was excellent, we had to ask for our drinks as they weren’t ready, which meant a bit of a wait. That said, the place had a lovely, cozy atmosphere overall.

Went for lunch on Sunday 7th July and was pleasantly surprised The last meal I had in the Plough was probably 25 years ago and it was a ploughman's, so in I went, The staff were friendly and welcoming I felt at ease straight away, that's a good thing. Next thing I noticed was the menu, after a quick scan the regular mixed grill caught my eye, It came on a sizzling plate with the egg cooked to perfection ,I like that too, All in all I liked the food and the services,so will be returning to sample some other dishes from the menu, I'll post some pictures of the menu and food prices.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Scotland. A beautiful village pub. Big car park with overflow parking. Outside seating is nice. Friendly and efficient staff. Drinks and food arrived within 20 minutes. Gammon on skillet and Sunday Roast Beef were delicious and filling, top value for money. We made the right decision to have a nice relaxing meal here rather than the busy motorway services. Locals were also friendly. I will not hesitate stopping here again.
