About This Pub

Ah, The Plough – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot, you know? Tucked away on Woodside Road, it's got that proper homely charm that makes you want to settle in for the evening. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute stars, always cheerful and ready to chat or sort you out with whatever you need. The food sounds spot on too; fresh pies, piping hot meals, and plenty of it, which is just what you want after a wander around. That garden with the play area is a nice touch if you're out with the family or fancy a sunny pint outside. It's inexpensive, open every day from midday till late, and with a solid 4.1 rating from loads of happy visitors, it's clear it's doing something right. On the flip side, while most people rave about it, there was that one four-star review mentioning it's lovely but perhaps not extraordinary, and it doesn't shout about a massive drinks menu, so if you're a beer aficionado, you might want to have a quick look first. All in all, it's a reliable spot for a relaxed night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; you might just find your new local!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you step in.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always on hand to make sure you're looked after.
  • The food is fresh, tasty, and comes in generous portions – perfect for a hearty meal after a long day.
  • They've got a lovely garden with a play area, which is great for families or just enjoying a bit of fresh air.
  • Special deals like the pie and a pint offer brilliant value, especially on weekends.
Cons
  • While most feedback is glowing, one review only gave it four stars, suggesting it might not be perfect for everyone – perhaps if you're after something a bit more upscale.
  • There's not much mentioned about the drinks selection beyond the food, so it could be hit or miss if you're looking for a wide variety of ales or cocktails.
  • Reviews span back to 2019, so things might have changed a tad since then – always worth checking for the latest vibes before heading over.

The Plough in Woodside is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure you have everything you need. I haven’t had the chance to try the food yet, but it smells and looks amazing! I’ll definitely be back to give it a go. The pub itself is cozy inside, and the outdoor area is lovely, especially in good weather. The whole place has a great vibe, and I really enjoyed my time there. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great drinks, friendly service, and a wonderful pub!

Visited on a Saturday where there’s currently a pie and a pint deal (currently £10). The pies are freshly made (I’ve been told with fresh produce and meat from a market, gathered that morning) as a result the pies on offer do differ from week to week. I had a Chicken Balti pie and it was gorgeous! The staff are very friendly too - definitely recommended as they’ve recently reopened under new management, but this is my first time here in total.
