About This Pub

Ah, The Bailie, what a lovely little find in the heart of Luton! I've got to say, it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. The staff are absolute stars; they're always chatting away and making sure you're comfortable, which really sets the tone for a warm, welcoming vibe. And oh, the Guinness – it's poured just right, smooth and full of flavour, perfect if you're in the mood for something traditional. The Irish theme gives it that extra charm, with a homely feel that makes you want to settle in for the night. Plus, it's brilliantly set up for accessibility, with wide doors and plenty of space inside, so it's easy for anyone to pop in and enjoy. They're spot on for sports fans too, with a great viewing area and fun additions like a pool table and darts to keep the entertainment going. On the flip side, if you're after something a bit more adventurous like IPAs, you might find the beer options a tad limited to the usual suspects. And without a website, it's not the easiest to keep tabs on what's happening, which is a shame as it could use a bit more online buzz. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a good pint and a laugh with mates – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always up for a chat, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They serve a top-tier Guinness that's spot on – perfect for anyone after a proper pint.
  • It's got a lovely Irish theme that adds a bit of character and warmth to the place.
  • Accessibility is spot on with wide entrances, spacious layouts, and an easy-to-find accessible toilet, which is great for everyone.
  • Fantastic for watching sports, with a dedicated viewing area, plus extras like a pool table and darts board to keep things lively.
Cons
  • No IPAs on draught, so if that's your go-to, you might be a bit disappointed with the beer selection sticking to the classics.
  • The pub doesn't have its own website, which makes it a tad tricky to get the latest info or check things out online beforehand.
  • Being unclaimed on Google means it might not be as polished online, so you could miss out on updates or special events.

There’s a flat, well-maintained path leading to the entrance, and the doorway is wide enough for wheelchair users. Inside, the layout is spacious, with plenty of room to navigate between tables without feeling cramped. There’s also an accessible toilet, which was clean and easy to locate, and staff were more than willing to assist or make adjustments if needed. Outside, the terrace area is also level and accessible, so no one has to miss out on the beautiful beachside view. It’s clear that thought has gone into making the entire space welcoming for everyone — not just in attitude, but in design.

Lovely Irish themed pub in heart of old Luton. Sadly for me no IPA’s on draught but the usual array of beers such as Stella, Madri, John Smiths etc. Great pub for watching sporting events has a fantastic viewing/man cave/smoking area out the back along with a pool table, & darts board. Didn't order food as they only have bar snacks available. They also host many Ska nights and live entertainment here which are very popular with the local community. Great find!

I walked past this place by accident. Popped in for a quick pint. The staff were friendly and chatted with me. The Guinness was a good pint.
